Renuka Shahane is known for her smile and of course for some of the memorable films like ‘Hum Apke hain Kaun’ and ‘Rita’. She has come a long way from her ‘Surabhi’ days, but one thing that hasn’t changed is her infectious smile. She is yet again gearing up to spread her smile and joy among her fans with her new Marathi film ‘Te Aath Diwas’ (Those Eight Days).
Though active over two decades in entertainment industry, Renuka is always choosy about her films. She is the firm believer of Quality over quantity. Therefore, her fans always look forward to her every outing, be it a film or a serial.
Now, after directing and playing the protagonist in critically acclaimed ‘Rita’, after a gap of 5 year, Renuka is back with a bang on a silver screen with her upcoming Marathi film ‘Te Aath Diwas’ (Those Eight Days). The film tells a story of a family where Renuka is playing a career woman and a mother. Having left her daughter at the age of 1 to pursue her career in the USA, she is now back after almost two decades to attend her daughter’s marriage. Things, however, are not like what they seem. After unearthing a truth, she decides to stand firmly behind her daughter during her moments of crisis.
This role is literally tailor-made for Renuka as she is having the opportunity to display a vast range of her acting prowess. Right from a vulnerable newly-wed, to an ambitious career woman, to a caring yet strong mother, Renuka is enjoying her role while the film is taking the final shape.
The film produced by Shekhar Pradhan, Shweta Jadhav and Kishor Dhargalkar features an ensemble cast of Tushar Dalvi, Atul Todankar, Suhas Paranjpe, Avinash Masurekar, Aaroh Velankar, Ashay Kulkarni and Deepali Murchikar. The film is directed by debutant Shyam Dhanorkar and written by Shashank Kevale.
