Khichik‘ releasing on 20th September stars Prathamesh Parab, Siddharth Jadhav, Rasika Chavan, Paula L McGlynn and other artists! The film seems like a heartfelt story of people migrating from rural to urban parts! On this occasion we catched up with Prathamesh Parab and asked him about his experience of being a part of ‘Khichik’!

You don’t seem to particularly choose lead roles in your films! But still there’s something unique about the characters you play. Is it the same in ‘Khichik’?

Yes, in this film too I play a very unique character. I haven’t played a road romeo who is also a thief before! This film too is very unique. When I first heard the narration I was attracted to this character because he seemed like a boy you can easily identify with and can find anywhere on the street! In real life when we see such characters we feel we should stay away from them! And the look given to my character too is very unique!

How is the character important in the film?

Even if lengthwise it isn’t much a bigger character. But in the second half my character is important to the story. But what I felt the reason this film is important is because it brings together many genres together. The film is set in Vidarbha as well as Pune. So that also brings in different flavors of the regions along with different music, different actors in different looks! Hence it’s a very rare feat for a film to bring together all this variety together in one film.

As you are saying there are many different tracks in the film, what is the one thing that binds all these tracks together?

The character of ‘Fatfati’ is that one thing that binds everyone together. The small kid who is the actual lead of the film and along with him the character of ‘Aaba’. How they bring all these characters together could be explored in the film itself!

Will you be seen romancing in this film? As your fans love you seeing you do that!

The character that I play does like a girl from his heart, but he is not good at wooing girls, neither does he stalk girls! But primarily my character is of a thief! So maybe audiences would be see me playing a completely new character in this film!

Amey Vinod Khopkar Entertianment, Purple Bull Entertainment, Trans FX Studios & Panaroma Studios’ production ‘Ye Re Ye Re Paisa 2‘ is all set to release in theatres this Friday on 9th of August. The film stars Sanjay Narvekar, Prasad Oak, Aniket Vishwasrao, Priyadarshan Jadhav, Mrinmayee Godbole, Mrinal Kulkarni, Anand Ingle, Vishakha Subhedar & others. After the success of ‘Baghtos Kay Mujra Kar‘ this is the second directorial film actor-writer turned director Hemant Dhome. Here are his thoughts about the film..
  • The first ‘Ye Re Ye Re Paisa’ was a hit, did that bring exert pressure on you?
100% there was pressure on me! It’s but obvious when you make a sequel to a successful film. But because of my whole team’s efforts and the backing of my producers and I have been able to make the film that I wanted to make without any compromises, and that makes me happy!
  • Is this a proper sequel? Or a spin off using characters from the first film?

‘Ye Re Ye Re Paisa 2’ is based on a completely new narrative. We have only used the characters of ‘Anna’, ‘Tenya’, ‘Ranjana’ & Janhvi Mujumdar from the first film and a new story has been created with many new characters. ‘Anna’ is at the center of the story this time and he is creating a new team of con artists!

  • Tell us about your experience of working with such a huge star cast.

It was a lot of fun. Every artist has a different sense of comedy, and different comic timing! Every one has different strengths and all of it lead to many layers in the narrative! Moreover all of these artists are a friend of mine, hence our shoot was fun and enjoyable.

  • The music of the film has clicked with the audiences. Tell us about the recreation of ‘Ashwini Ye Na’ and about the overall album of the film!

We have experimented a lot in the music. Keeping aside typical sound we have tried to push the boundary. Troy and Arif have done fabulous job, including the background score. I am glad that the audiences have appreciated and loved the recreation of ‘Ashwini Ye Na’! ‘Un Dos Tres’ is a Spanish song that has also worked well and is making everyone dance! Title song of the film is sung by Mika Singh and writer-lyricist Kshitij Patwardhan has written two fun song! We are satisfied to see the great response from the audiences.

  • What do you think is essential for a Marathi film to be successful?

There’s no formula for a successful Marathi film! If the film connects with the audiences I think it is successful! That connection is very important more than the numbers!

Vikram Phadnis directorial ‘Smile Please‘ starring the likes of Mukta Barve, Lalit Prabhakar, Prasad Oak, Aditi Govitrikar & others is set to release this Friday! We chatted with the Bollywood fashion designer turned Marathi filmmaker on this occasion regarding the film & beyond!

You have worked in Bollywood for many years. What was the first revelation you had when you entered Marathi film industry?

Nice question! Yes, I did a mistake. I underestimated the talent of Marathi artists! More than underestimating them I think I didn’t really knew them. But then I became familiar to the power of Marathi talent!

You used to watch Marathi films?

No, not really. I recently started watching Marathi films after many years! When I was a kid my parents used to take me to watch Marathi plays & I had a fading memory of it. Now during Hrudayantar (his first Marathi film) I started watching other Marathi films to know what is happening! I didn’t even knew

Marathi actors face to the name! I only knew Sachin Pilgaonkar, Sachin Khedekar, Mahesh Manjrekar & Ashwini Bhave!

Do you believe the Marathi audience is different from Hindi audience and so on? Or you think audience is audience and it’s same everywhere!

Hindi is a universal language in India so everybody watches it. We don’t watch Telugu and Tamil films much unless we are a part of that industry or we are passionate about that cinema! And those people won’t watch Marathi films! That’s why it’s called regional cinema. So the difference is there but there is no problem that it is there! Every state has their regional cinema and Hindi releases everywhere. It is bound to be that way. Having said that sometimes some film rise above this and people watch movies of other regions!

This is your second consecutive film with Mukta Barve. How was the process different than the first time?

Both of my films are emotional. In both my films the woman is the main protagonist. In the first film she was the narrator, and now in the second film she revolves around the main conflict. It could have gone wrong, we would have falled on our face and people would have said that this is a sequel of Hrudayantar! It could have been risky for her for more and people could have said that he has made the same film again. Because people look at actors later but they will see the teaser/trailer and say that it looks like the first!

But it doesn’t look like that!

Because I am doing a sensitive subject! If I was doing a comedy, horror, action, rom com it would not have! since the genres are similar. I know my weaknesses that I can’t do an out & out and comedy or an action film. And I also know my strengths. Like in chess we know which pawn should be moved in which direction similarly I know how to Mukta in the right direction. If I moved her to the same direction or the wrong direction I would be moving her to the dead end. But Mukta has the versatility in her that she can give two different option in films with similar genres! Also I wanted Mukta to be a part of this journey as this is a tribute to my mother!

You said now that both your films are emotional. Along with that both your films are also concerned with illness, in this case mental illness.

I would hate to call it a illness! Because I’ve seen it from close quarters. I don’t think it’s a illness, it’s a phase that you go through. I am happy right now. 6 minutes later if I’m sad doesn’t mean I’m ill! I would hate to call it a sickness also! It’s a condition. People who think it’s a sickness or illness, it’s not right. Stability and instability comes in your life like day and night! After the night the day comes! I want to bring this to the forefront that when such condition arise in our lives defeat is not the answer! We shouldn’t loose hope and say to others ‘Chal Pudhe Chal Tu’!

For whatever this film is about there may not be pharmaseutical remedies. You may not be taking a pill to cure yourself. But if your mind and your soul are right are positive and healthy, you can face what the condition of this film is!

Doctor turned model and model turned actress Aditi Govitrikar is again living a doctor’s role, this time in a new Marathi film ‘Smile Please‘. The film also stars Mukta Barve, Lalit Prabhakar & Prasad Oak! We made her open up about this new film, role and also about Marathi cinema!

Ringa Ringa (2010) was your first Marathi film. And now you are in Smile Please. How do you think Marathi cinema has evolved over the years?

I think Marathi cinema has always had powerful content! Yes there was a time when ‘comedy’ had taken over but after that superb content has been continued! It has been a journey of ups and down but still all genres are working, maybe except Horror in my understanding. Different slice of life stories too are working for the audiences.

You have worked with Vikram Phadnis (the director of ‘Smile Please’) as a model. And now you are working with him as a actor. How is the director in him different than the fashion designer in him?

He has thought me everything as a model. From how to pose to how to walk on the ramp. And as a director his unseen side was came in front of me! He is super talented! I asked him why he didn’t direct for so many years! The way he tells stories, emotions and his understanding about relationships, not in a dramatic way but in a very subtle way he shows all of that on the screen. It touches everybody’s heart!

What is the importance of your character in the story of the film?

As you can see in the trailer I play a doctor in this film. But she isn’t just a doctor to Mukta’s character but also a close friend of her. They go back together from their college days. So there are many aspects to the character both as a friend and as a doctor! I can’t reveal beyond this!

Which are some of your favorite Marathi films?

(Director Vikram Phadnis prompts ‘Hrudayantar’) Yes that is one of my all time favorite films! But Deool, Anandi Gopal and many others are among my favorite films!

Smile Please‘ this Friday’s big Marathi release stars a big star cast of Mukta Barve, Lalit Prabhakar, Prasad Oak, Aditi Govitrikar and others. The film deals with a mental condition and how does a person tackle it! We chatted with Mukta Barve about the film and her role in this film!

What does ‘Smile Please’ the title of the film stand for in the context of the film?

Every actor in the film is saying it currently but I believe it’s the message of the film that needs to reach out to viewers who watch the film. These two words ‘Smile Please’ have become very redundant in our world today, when people say ‘Smile Please’ we laugh artificially for a photo! It is not just a physical action but it has to be imbibed into a person! The film believes nothing is difficult in this world! If we try happiness is achievable!

You have played many important and challenging roles in your career. What was challenging in this role of yours?

The fun part about this role was that I didn’t have the luxury of using emotional memory of this character which I usually have! Which in fact is the base of all characters and you’ll know when you watch the film that why I couldn’t use it! And hence I had to unlearn many things as the role demanded it! Many things I learned it in a new way. It’s like you have to communicate what’s inside of you to the audiences but without the usual mediums that you have to communicate! Definitely this was a challenging role and I had to approach it a very new way!

The chemistry between you and Lalit Prabhakar is evident from the trailer. How was your experience working with him?

It was great. I had seen his recent film ‘Anandi Gopal‘. I like his screen presence very much. He brings a lot of energy on the screen. And his character in ‘Smile Please’ brings a lot of positive energy on the screen. And as a co-actor he is always thinking about the film and the whole script. And he even has queries to ask to the director. So when I do scenes with him I feel that we travel together in this journey. He is not like an independent player who scores his 100 alone! So I enjoy the give & take while working with him.

Is Prasad Oak’s role in ‘Smile Please’ an extended cameo of sorts or a proper full fledged role?

I had worked with him in ‘Ek Dav Dhobipachhad’. But we hadn’t worked together to this length! So yes he has a proper big role in the film! It was Vikram’s (director Vikram Phadnis) decision to not reveal much about his role in the trailer as the he wants the audiences to be surprised in theatres!

Subodh Bhave is currently on a role, this year he has been ruling on both Marathi cinema & now with the success of ‘Tula Pahate Re’ he has again become a household star who meets the audiences daily through their T.V. But at same time his hugely anticipate biopic of Dr. Kashinath Ghanekar is all set to release this diwali. The trailer of ‘Ani..Dr.Kashinath Ghanekar’ has impressed the audiences & critics all alike & everyone is expecting a huge blockbuster for Marathi cinema this Diwali when the film releases on 8th November! Here’s Subodh Bhave’s views on Theatre & Dr. Kashinath Ghanekar!

Sir, we all are aware that you started your acting career with theatre! Tell us which are your favourite Marathi Plays of all time!

One play I just can’t forget is ‘Dhyanimani’! It starred Shivaji Satam & Neena Kulkarni back then! And then all plays of Satish Tare! I have loved every play that I have seen of his & I have always been a huge fan of his!

Did you get a chance to watch Dr.Kashinath Ghanekar perform live on theatre? Or did you read his plays?

No, I didn’t get the chance. I was in 5th Std. when he died. But I remember one monologue of his from the play ‘Raygadala Jevha Jag Yete’. I used perform that in my program. I hadn’t read his other plays. And for ‘Ani..Dr. Kashinath Ghanekar’ I followed Abhijit Deshpande’s script as he had thoroughly researched on Dr. Ghanekar & his life & his work in theatre!

Now that you’ve played him in the film, you are aware of the characters he played. If you get a chance, which of his characters would you like to play on theatre?

I had seen the play ‘Ashrunchi Jhali Phule’! Not starring Dr. Ghanekar, but the later adaptation where Shreyas Talpade played his part! I find that role fascinating & I would any day love to play the character of ‘Lalya’ from ‘Ashrunchi Jhali Phule’!

You have now played the role of a theatre artist in the medium of cinema, if you get a chance to play the role of a theatre artist in theatre, what would you enjoy more?

To me the medium isn’t important. Getting to do good characters in any mediums is important! Whether it is cinema or theatre or even serials, to me the character on it’s own is more important & not the medium! If I get a chance to play Dr. Ghanekar’s role in theatre I would surely do it, if time & other things permit me!

Do you think if Dr. Kashinath Ghanekar was alive today & was functioning in today’s modern world of films! What fun would have he had as an actor?

I am not sure if he would have done films had he been working today! Even today he would have done theatre as films didn’t really connect with him. Both biopics that I have done of artists; Bal Gandharva & Dr. Kashinath Ghanekar, never enjoyed working in cinema. Because both of them had a direct connect with the audience, they loved the ‘live’ medium of theatre!

Ani..Dr.Kashinath Ghanekar’ is Marathi cinema’s big Diwali release this year. It stars a brigade of Marathi Stars; Subodh Bhave, Sumit Raghvan, Sonali Kulkarni, Prasad Oak, Anand Ingle, Mohan Joshi & others playing Marathi Stars of the yesteryears! And the captain of this grand ship is the writer turned director Abhijeet Deshpande! After writing many a hit films like ‘De Dhakka’, ‘Mi Shivajiraje Bhosale Boltoy’ & ‘Lalbaug Parel’ he is all set to announce himself as a director! Here’s his views about the film & the process!

Today a dream of yours is coming to life! How old is this dream? & how does it feel?

From around 2005 to 2018, 13 years! And the dream connected to ‘Kashinath Ghanekar’ is around 5-6 years old! 6 years ago this idea came into my mind & I started writing. I begin with the research necessary for the film. It took me around 3 years to write the film! After that around one & a half to two years went in preparing for the film. Then the shoot of the film took 2 years!

There are so many iconic Marathi Stars from the yesteryears. Why ‘Dr. Kashinath Ghanekar’?

I was fascinated by the character! It’s never been seen in our films & maybe after ‘Ani..Dr. Kashinath Ghanekar’ it won’t happen again! The life journey of this character is so huge. Dr. Ghanekar was obviously talented, that’s like a by default for every great theatre artist of ours. The personal journey of Dr. Ghanekar was very complex & dramatic. Moreover he initiated a huge change in Marathi theatre. It was a new era for Marathi theatre, the shift from class to mass had happened & the youth were attracted towards it because of Dr. Ghanekar. And his personal journey too, we have shown all of it as it is, without any glorification!

Abhijeet Deshpande Director

How do you think the audiences would react to your honest approach of telling Dr. Ghanekar’s story as it is?

I think today’s audiences is more open to different subjects. They like ‘human’ characters which can be flawed & vulnerable. And Dr. Kashinath Ghanekar was that exact ‘human’ character! I am thankful to Viacom & Nikhil Sane for giving me complete freedom in telling Dr. Ghanekar’s story without holding anything back.

How did Subodh Bhave’s name come to your mind? Was he in your vision from the writing stage itself?

No, Dr. Ghanekar himself was in my vision when I was writing. But then when I knew that there is so much complexity in this character & in the story, I wanted an actor who can project all those different shades of the same person! Subodh in reality is an exact opposite of Dr. Ghanekar. But that’s the fun part, that there’s a challenge for Subodh & his skills to portray a character that is completely different from his personality or even his previous characters. Moreover for the audiences too it’s more exciting to see Subodh in a new avatar!

You have been working in Marathi & Hindi films as a writer for years! How has that experience of yours helped you in direction?

‘Ani..Kashinath Ghanekar’ stars so many brilliant & big actors that too playing iconic actors of the yesteryears. Now as a director I am a first timer, but what helped me is the understanding of the script! For example when a cinematographer turns a director, it’s a given that his film will have beautiful visuals, when an editor turns director his film’s editing will show brilliance in editing. Same way when a writer turns a director, his content has to be good! The challenging part for me was to bring out the desired performances from my actors, & after interaction with my actors I did pull it off.

The trailer of ‘Ani..Dr. Kashinath Ghanekar’ starring Subodh Bhave in the title role excited the audiences about the film! Here’s what the talented actor has to say about the film & his work!

How would you describe playing the role of Dr. Lagoo in ‘Ani..Dr.Kashinath Ghanekar’? Was it challenging or frightening?

I am really thankful to Abhijit (Abhijit Deshpande, the director) & Nikhil Sane for giving me this role. I did feel the pressure while playing this role as Dr. Lagoo is with us today! Dr. Lagoo is an acting school on his own! And in this film there’s a conflict between the two schools of acting that Dr. Lagoo & Dr. Ghanekar represent! I didn’t understand how to react when this role was offered to me, because Dr. Lagoo himself will be watching this film! He even saw my play ‘Hamlet’ & he met me after the play & he was teary eyed! So now playing him in a film is very emotional & challenging for me!

What exactly is your role in this film? Is it a cameo or an extended cameo or something else?

In a way yes, I am playing a cameo. But Dr. Lagoo’s character is very important in the film, in shaping the screenplay of the film! Dr. Ghanekar was a very different actor than Dr. Lagoo. Dr. Ghanekar was flamboyant, & he played to the gallery, while Dr. Lagoo was more within him & more studious as an actor. Dr. Lagoo was like Rahul Dravid & Dr. Ghanekar was like Sehwag!

Dr. Lagoo once said that an actor has to be an athlete! I think it applies to you perfectly as you look the same as you looked 10 years ago! How do you think the fitness of an actor helps an actor in his acting?

See when I am fit physically the audiences have scope to watch me in different roles! Today I am 47 years old, if I start looking my age I won’t be able to fit into different roles! Moreover an actor’s body is like his own instrument. And even after that the shelf life of an actor is less. You get around 25 years! And only great fitness can let you extent it to even 50 years!

We’ve seen you in Hindi films, serials & in Marathi but your mother tongue is Tamil! Would you ever be interested in dong Tamil films?

I would love too! That’s the language that is spoken in my house by my parents. While I am not an expert in Tamil, I definitely communicate in it & with a bit of homework I can certainly be comfortable to do a Tamil film!

As the release of the much awaited sequel of Boyz is near we had a chat with the ‘Boyz 2’ team which includes the director of the film Vishal Devrukhkar & the three young Marathi Stars; Sumant Shinde, Pratik Lad & Parth Bhalerao!

The Dialogues of ‘Boyz’ 1 became hugely popular among the audiences. They became a part of their language. What about the dialogues of ‘Boyz 2’? Do you think they too would become iconic?

Vishal Devrukhkar (Director): Yes it’s true. The audiences loved the dialogues! And as the trailer of ‘Boyz 2’ suggests this time too, the dialogues are equally funny! Whatever you’ve seen in the trailer, the film has plenty of that stuff!

Parth (Bhalerao) tell us your favourite dialogue from ‘Boyz 2’!

Parth Bhalerao: To say the truth I liked the whole script! I can’t reveal much before the release, but one of my favourite dialogues that is also featured in the trailer is ‘Height Choti Ahe Pan Fight Mothi Ahe’!

How did you decide the backdrop of College/Hostel for ‘Boyz 2’?

Vishal Devrukhkar (Director): At first we didn’t have the sequel in mind. But that suddenly the sequel was announced. The first thought that came to our mind was to set the story in college. But at same time we were against that thought as there are so many films set in college. After thinking more about it, we came up with the narrative, where socially maniac Boyz are standing against a rich kid with loads of attitude! Then the story revolved around this orbit.

Has anyone of you lived in a hostel? Tell us about your memories!

Sumant Shinde: Yes I have lived in a hostel! But for very less time! I was sent to hostel when I was in 2nd Standard! My sister was in 5th & I felt it’s unfair to a kid of my age to live in hostel. I used to cry everyday & all my hostel mates were elder than me. Then in Diwali vacations I saw a film with family which was ‘Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna’. And after watching that film I said the same to my parents that Mummy Papa ‘Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna’. Then the very next day I was home & my hostel life ended very quickly!

What exactly is the meaning of ‘Goti Soda Batli Foda’?

Vishal Devrukhkar (Director): Here the ‘Goti’ stands for ‘Tension’! So the real meaning of this dialogue is to leave tension & move on! Today’s youth are always in some kind of stress, they need to move on & enjoy a bit!

We all are watching Parth from years! Tell us about the other two ‘Boyz’ & how you found them!

Vishal Devrukhkar (Director): Sumant though is our producer’s son he was initially rejected. We had casted another boy in his role. But in the last moment that other boy backed out from the film. Then we decided to give Sumant a chance. We postponed the shoot & Sumant went through a rigorous training for over 6 months! Since he was from convent he had to work on his Marathi grammar & everything. His sister Kashmera helped him a lot in the process!

And about Prateek (Pratik Lad), I saw him in a short film titled ‘Dhanya’. In the very first shot of the film I saw his eyes & found my character in him! Then when he came to Mumbai for auditions I was confident by just looking at him! Though his audition too was very good!

What is the secret of Parth’s evergreen looks! He’s been playing roles of children from years & still he fits every part!

Vishal Devrukhkar (Director): It’s true we all wonder about it! But on a serious note he is a very dedicated actor! Though he was a senior to Prateek & Sumant, he didn’t have any attitude against them. He started from scratch for this character alongside his co-actors! He also did the workshop with both of them & did everything that they did! We do give him respect for his body of work, but he himself never behaves rudely even when he has worked Amitabh Bachchan!

And about his looks I think it’s a god given gift that he can look young for a long time! And he has used it to his benefit!

Along with the humour the audiences also loved the emotional Mother-Son track of ‘Boyz’. The trailer of ‘Boyz 2’ doesn’t hint about any emotional track but is there any surprise?

Vishal Devrukhkar (Director): The reason the emotional track isn’t featured in the trailer is because people would think this is a emotional film. But yes my films will always have an emotional angle, but all of that is presented along with humour as a comedy film! So yes in ‘Boyz 2’ too there is drama!

Girish Kulkarni is a part of this film! Tell us about his association with the film!

Vishal Devrukhkar (Director): He plays the character of a newly rich politician who is the trustee of the college & also the father of the main villain of the film! He has an attitude of spoiling his kid & he lets him do whatever he wants! While writing this character itself I thought someone big has to play this part! So then I decided to approach Girish Kulkarni. We met & we talked for hours, he heard the script & he also heard my story, my life’s story! Then he decided to play this cameo more because of my life’s story than the film’s story!

Finally tell us do you think ‘Boyz 2’ can be seen by the entire family together?

Vishal Devrukhkar (Director): Yes they should watch it together. Because somewhere the film captures the problems of teenage kids! The kids who are transforming from mid teenagers to late teenagers! We think if parents watch this film with their teenage kids, they might understand the problems of their kids better & might work together with their kids to find solution to these problems. And I don’t feel my film is obscene. There are two meanings to everything & it’s up to the viewpoint of the audiences!

After being a successful writer in Marathi films & television, Sachin Darekar has made his directing debut with the upcoming youth-centric entertainer ‘Party’. Party is all set to hit the theatres on 7th September & we had the team of the film that includes stars like Suvrat Joshi, Prajakta Mali & Akshay Tanksale open up about the film & on their experience doing this film.

Tell us about your experience of being a part of this ‘Party’!

Suvrat Joshi Actor

Suvrat Joshi: I think our whole life is a ‘Party’! There’s a dialogue in the film that life is a ‘Party’ given by the almighty! And we were enjoying every moment of this party while shooting ‘Party’! This film will remind you of those golden memories of your childhood days when we collected one rupee each & enjoyed the party with our friends! It will remind you of those old days of the 1990s when things were simpler. Our favourite heroes & heroines of Hindi films used to walk in slow motion & all. This film is definitely about friendship but it’s also about those times that will make us all nostalgic!

Prajakta Mali Actress

Prajakta Mali: My experience too was really fun. The moment I knew that this film is directed by (Sachin Darekar) the writer of ‘Zenda’ film, I definitely wanted to be a part of this ‘Party’. I am very glad to say if there is any phase in my life that I have enjoyed the most it would be the 10-15 days of the workshop for ‘Party’ with the entire team! We had loads of fun during that time & during the shoot. While I have never had so many friends in real life, but this film made me wish that I had such a gang of friends.

Rohit Haldikar Actor

Rohit Haldikar: When Sachin Sir (Director) called me for the first time & asked me to meet him, I was at the Borivali National Park. Sachin Sir told me to meet him right now! And coincidently he lived right next to the National Park! Then he narrated the story & told me about my character. I instantly connected with the character, as we all know there’s always this one guy in the group who is always going through a ‘Kadki’. Well, I play that guy! This guy though is scolded by his friends for this habit but he is also treated with equal love like other friends in the group. Like Prajakta said, the workshops were very fun & useful for me to get my character right.

Akshay Tanksale Actor

Akshay Tanksale tell us about your ‘relation based’ image made through your songs! First ‘Kaka’ & now ‘Bhavdya’!

Akshay Tanksale: Haha. I guess after Kaka & Bhavdya the next song would be on my sister! In my real life ‘Party’ happens every other day in my life because I have a huge group of friends & many groups too. Yet I feel the party I had while doing this film is something else! I don’t think a party of this kind would ever come back in my life! I remember when I first met Sachin Sir, when I heard his voice on the phone I felt this guy is very strict! In person though that wasn’t the case! We connected instantly. When I got out of his house, there I met Amitraj Sir (Music director) & I thought this is something fun & I have to surely do this film!

Stavan Shinde Actor

Being a newcomer in this team tell us about your journey Stavan Shinde.

Stavan Shinde: When I was selected for this role I didn’t even need a script! I had trust on Sachin Sir as I have loved his previous works. So I am very thankful to him for selecting me. Later when I read the script I loved it & related with it. But I was worried if my parents would connect with it, so I narrated the script to my father. And I am telling you honestly that day me & my father for the first time we had drinks together like friends! That was the magic of ‘Party’ which I think the audience would relate too as well, both young audiences & family audiences.

Manjiri Pupala Actress

This is your first film too Manjiri Pupala!

Manjiri Pupala: Everyone has a heard this fairy tale somewhere, that I simple girl was doing her usual work & a director notices her out of nowhere & offers her a role in his film! Even I had heard a story of this kind, but I never believed in it much. So I was about to start my work for a TV show, & Sachin Darekar sir was connected with it. It was the first day of the workshop for that show. The workshop ended & I came down, I was standing on the footpath & I was looking for an Auto. Suddenly Sachin sir came there saying he wants to talk to me. He told me he is righting something of this sort & would want me to work in it. And I said why not, surely. He told me that he will contact me later. Many days passed by I forgot about it, & suddenly after around 6 months, I got a call from him saying I am really doing this project! I am very thankful to Sachin Sir, this is my first film & that too on such a big scale & with such fantastic team!

(To the Director) What do you think would the audiences take back with them after watching ‘Party’?

I think they will surely be entertained by the film. But I feel more importantly they would be reminded of their friends & their friends circle. I think beyond the box office success & all If my film would manage to make even a small section of the audiences to make a phone call to their forgotten friends asking them about their whereabouts & how they are, I think all our efforts to make this film will be rewarded!
