The story of the film revolves around an engineering student whose life is taken control by his own technological innovation. The film is directed by national award winner director Sujay Dahake.

The brand Zee is synonymous with providing entertainment to the whole country. Over the past 24 years of its flourishing existence, Zee has enthralled one and all with its content ranging from daily soaps to news channels to sports. But for the first time a TV channel in Marathi is being launched specially focused on the youth.

On the rain soaked evening of 3^rd August, the Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEEL) hosted a grand pre-launch party for its brand new General Entertainment Channel (GEC) – Zee Yuva. The channel’s first look was unveiled by Sharada Sunder, Executive Vice President, Cluster Head – Regional Channels and Bavesh Janavlekar, Business Head Zee Talkies & Zee Yuva. The evening was graced by the presence of the who’s who of Marathi Television and Film fraternity.

The event commenced with a spectacular human interactive AV which had the audience in awe. The AV traced the illustrious journey of ZEE over the years and also unveiled the launch if ZEE Yuva. The hosts for the event were the always energetic VaibhavTatwawadi and the composed and articulate Spruha Joshi. The two with their lively hosting were crucial in ensuring a smooth functioning of the event.

All the exciting shows on the upcoming channel were introduced to the audience along with its cast. The event also included live performance of title tracks of Bun Maska by Jasraj Joshi and of Freshers by Amitraj. The peppy performances certainly upped the spirits of the audience. The cast of Itech Taka Tamboo (ITT) then had the audience in splits with their live comedy skit.

The programmer Freshers is based on the life of teens who have just joined college and how they come of age in the new world. ShravanBal Rockstar is based onhatke aspirations of the youth and their parents.Bun Maska explores the world through the eyes of a lovestruck, bubbly and extrovert girl, while Love Lagna Locha is about a shy young boy in today’s world where outgoing nature is celebrated. ITT is about the journey of a guy from a superficial global world to a serene and beautiful locale.

The shows despite having youthful exuberance are still rooted in Indian culture and values. Exciting times are surely lie ahead for Marathi television.

About Bun Maska Serial :
It is a twisted love story between a voice over artist Maitreyee and Saumitra, a homeopath. Maitreyee lives in phases or fads. Her cupboard is filled with memories of fads which are of no use now. It almost has everything from roller skates to a fish tank. The twist in the tale happens when she visits a meditation camp in one of her fads and feels she has to renounce the material world.

Saumitra is in a fix as his lover is leaving him for spiritual reasons. Then instigated by her wise grandmother, Maitreyee takes a decision to find a girlfriend for Saumitra before leaving him. Playing around this hilarious focal point the story explores lives of Saumitra and Maitryees families and their funny group of friends. Every person in the show has unique personality which will add to the taste of Bun Maska and make it delicious.

& Jara Hatke generally scores in departments that most Marathi films don’t. It has been promoted smartly, with the posters making ingenious use of the’&’ in the title. It also has a finessed look that will attract the urban multiplex audience to the theatres. The actors all do a fine job, but what the film lacks is the very essential- substance!

Meera (Mrunal Kulkarni) is a botany teacher living in Pune. She is a single parent whose daughter Aastha (Rangole) is studying in Mumbai. She one day meets Aakash (Indranil Sen gupta), her long lost friend, and they hit off very well and fall in love. Akash is a single parent himself with his son Nishant (Siddharth Menon) studying art in Mumbai. The two parents think that it would be less awkward if their two children meet each other themselves. Nishant and Astha also get along well and as their relationship takes a turn into becoming something more than friendship, things get complicated.

The main issue with the screenplay here is that the characters are shown to be all broad-minded and modern individuals, but somehow they are not able to make logical decisions. And this comes across as as quite unconvincing. It is also strange to see the parents who have taken a firm stand of getting married in the first half, choosing conventional and socially acceptable solutions later on.

The senior pair here of Murnal Kulkarni and Indranil Sengupta share a good chemistry. The presence of Indranil gives a refreshing Bengali touch to the film. The younger actors are also up to the mark. Siddharth Menon is fast becoming an actor identified with cinema of substance. He also doesn’t seem out of place in a main stream film like Poster Girl. But they can do only so much as the script demands.

Overall:

& Jara Hatke is a film that looks pretty, but lacks enough substance to engage you or make any impact.
