Salaam Pune will be felicitating Chanakya, a Marathi play directed by Manoj Joshi as a Best Play. Susat- another play directed by Prayadarshan Jadhav will also be given Salam Pune award in the same ceremony. The event will take place on 5 November at 4 pm at S M Joshi Hall. The chief guest for this event will be Vasantrao Purke, former state education minister and Pradeep Patil, Collector of Pune Municipal.

Along with these two plays, ten actors and performers will be awarded in this event including stand-up comedian Naveen Prabhakar, Famous dancer Dr. Pt. Nandkishor Kapote, Singer Mohan Bhandari, presenter and host Dr. Nilesh Sable, artiste Supriya Shinde. Ajit Babar will be awarded Pune Youth idol and Special awards will be given to Prashant Dhage and Sagar Bhagwat for their social services in various fields

And the best star pair on TV went to Suyash Tilak and Suruchi Adarkar for their popular ZEE MARATHI show ‘Ka Re Durava‘ who said that receiving this first award has made their families proud and will also help their future career and thanked the Puneites. Also the most popular comedy show went to a Hindi show for the first time namely ‘Taarak Mehta Kaa Ooltah Chasmaah’ on SAB TV and it was received by the producers Asit Modi and Neela Modi.

For a popular youth oriented show , the award went to Sanjay Jadhav’s show ‘Dil Dosti Duniyaadari‘ starring Swanandi Tikekar, Amey Wagh, Survart Joshi, Pooja Thombre, and Reshma Patil who received it at the hands of Prafulchandra Chate. A dance medley was performed and choreographed by Mallika Barve and Yogesh Tanpure, and Mayuresh Lonkar. The showstopper was a three and half year old Dhairyashil Dangmali who brought the house down with his rendition of the popular song ‘Mauli MAULI‘.And music director Adi Ramchandra sang a few Marathi ghazals of FM Shinde . Veteran journalist Arun Lonkar , actor Radha Kulkarni from ‘Ase He Kanyadaan’, Mithila Naik from ‘Aadesh’, actress Vrinda Bal, actor Nikhil Vairagar, music director Harshit Abhiraj, Narendra Bhide, Kedar Shinde of Agabai Arrecchya 2, directorand producer andunit of ‘A PAYING GHOST , Producer MK Dhumal, director Yogesh Vanve, Deep Kadam, Deepak Savakhande, were felicitated. Santosh Chordia emceed the show in his comic ways and Harshit Abhiraj made the musical farewell.

Every year an award is given to the Best film by Salaam Pune, however this year three Marathi films will be awarded by Salaam Pune. As 2014 witnessed many good movies doing great business at Box Office Salaam Pune has decided to honour three films as Best Film this year. Dr. Prakash Amte, Rege and Elizabeth Ekadashi will be awarded this year.

These three films will be honoured at S M Joshi Hall on 3 January in the Marathi Patrakar Din event. Also, Mrinmayee Deshpande will be awarded as Best Actress for her “Mamachya GaavalaJaaooya”

Apart from these film awards, five journalists will also be awarded as Salaam Pune award. Senior film journalist Aruna Antarkar, Harish Kenchi, Sambhaji Patil, Ajit Chavan and Narendra Shinde will be honoured in this event. Varsha Marathi will be honoured by Best Media and Dr. Ajay Dudhane will be awarded for his social work in de-addiction.

Marathi Chitrapat Mahamandal president Vijay Patkar and State Minister Babanarao Lonikar will be chief guest for this event. Many film industry persons will also be present for this event.

Vijay Patkar, newly elected president of Akhil Bhartiya Marathi Chitrapat Mahamandal assured that he will personally look into the woes of small artistes.

Salaam Pune felicitated Patkar after his selection as a president on this Mahamandal. On this occasion, he said that after a gap of 48 years there is an actor president. I am aware about the problems faced by the small time technicians, artistes. I cannot promise anything, as I have only one year tenure, yet I will try to focus my work on their betterment. I cannot bring any change alone, everybody has to work together. He also said that regional committees at Pune, Kolhapur and Mumbai started by Mandal have been cancelled as elected directors can handle the work.

Various cine-goers appealed to critics not to present deliberate negative reviews as it affects the entire Marathi movie industry in a function arranged by Salaam Pune. The cast and crew of “Aandhali Koshimbir” was present here for an interaction.

Director Aditya Ingale, Actors like Anand Ingle, Mrunmayee Deshpande, Aniket Vishwasrao, Hemant Dhome, Cinematographer Pushpank Gavade were present at this interaction.

Many from the audience voiced their views about recent trend of writing damaging reviews of Marathi movies. “Audience decides to watch a movie after reading its review; however, it is disheartening to see many critics are writing negative reviews purposely. This harms not only Marathi movies but entire Marathi culture and language. Hence, we would like to urge people not to make their minds by reading a review, but by watching it.” Audience also commented that these critics enjoys unrealistic stunts and plots from other languages, but expect Marathi movie should be hundred percent realistic.

While talking about movie, Anand Ingle and Aditya Ingle said, “This is not just a comedy movie. It is about what happens when a different type of people come together. As all the actors have done an excellent job, we are very much sure that audience will love to watch this movie twice.
