TTMM Marathi Movie Review :

‘TTMM – Tujha Tu Majha Mi’ is a film that tells nothing new, & also the way in which it tells has nothing new about it. From ‘Chori Chori’ (Raj Kapoor – Nargis), ‘Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahi’ (Aamir Khan – Pooja Bhatt) to even ‘Jab We Met’ (Shahid – Kareena) this formula of ‘opposites attract’ has been used repeatedly. However, as most of the times the problem is not the formula but the elements it uses to surround it. Countless little scenes in this film become empty & plain boring because the emotional context that is supposed to drive the audiences towards the film fails miserably.

The boy (Lalit Prabhakar) is a passionate traveler & he feels that marriage will put a halt to his freedom & his dream to travel the world will remain unfulfilled. The girl (Neha Mahajan) at a different place, wishes to marry the boy of her dreams (how typically 90s) & is not ready to settle with a slightly bald guy. It’s ironic how the girl never even once thinks about her professional life! The film romantically keeps its hero in today’s times & the girl in the age-old era of 80s or 90s. So they both meet on a bus by co-incidence & start fighting from the word ‘go’. You must have predicted why & how these two strangers meet on a bus. And then start their meaningless journey of self-exploration.

Right now we can give away the logical errors till this point, but then the major conflict of the film too is a major logical flaw! I am not revealing anything but we are all familiar about Goa & how it’s one of the safest & the most popular tourist destinations of India & the tourists there enjoy enough freedom! But just how the film deals with its heroine, it deals quite similarly with Goa, & honestly that hurts!

Though most of the cast that includes Lalit, Neha, Savita Prabhune, Vidyadhar Joshi, Satish Pulekar, Bharat Ganeshpure, & the unfortunately type casted kid Pushkar Lonarkar; have done their bit, but none of them manage to interest us, except Sagar Karande (with some of his usual antics) & Seema Deshmukh as the mother of the heroine who gets a few effective scenes. The film has desperately tried to portray today’s father through Satish Pulekar (heroine’s father) & Vidyadhar Joshi (hero’s father) by giving them exclusive scenes where they try to put forth ‘father styled philosophy’ in front of their ‘confused’ kids. But unfortunately none of these scenes work, mainly because we aren’t connected with the confusion that’s happening in our hero-heroine’s lives.

Technically the film is nothing extraordinary but definitely not a disaster. The basic idea (though not completely original) did have potential, & could have made the film a decent entertainer provided the writer-director had worked on the logic part of the film. ‘TTMM’ is a film that doesn’t really get on your nerves or bombards you with loud background score & theatrical acting (something that is being a bit common in Marathi right now), instead it bores you with factually normal but shots (& scenes) that appear unnecessarily long. Dialogues that for no particular reasons have pauses, and all of these aspects (& more) disinterest you throughout the runtime.

One thing that needs to be noticed, that a film (especially the first film) reflects its director’s passions & his/her take on life in general. The director of this film Kuldeep Jadhav might have failed in the craft of filmmaking in his debut but if he tries to learn it more (& of course through experience) he might give us interesting films about passionate travellers in the future.

Overall:

You have to be a die-hard fan of Lalit Prabhakar or Neha Mahajan to able to enjoy this film or else ‘TTMM’ is easily avoidable.

‘TTMM’ – Tujha Tu Majha Mi is an upcoming Marathi film that has been widely anticipated by the Marathi audiences. The first song from the film ‘Kshan Mohare’ is out on social media & it has received lots of love from Marathi audiences. Shot in scenic locales of India’s holiday most loved holiday destination Goa. This song truly takes us to Goa!

The song has been sung by Rohit Shyam Raut & ‘The Voice of India’ fame Shrinidhi Ghatate. And the lyrics are written by the versatile writer Kshitij Patwardhan. And the music is composed by popular music director Pankaj Padghan.

The lead pair of Neha Mahajan & Lalit Prabhakar looks fresh & they seem to be enjoying playing these characters. Both Neha & Lalit seem to play characters that are quite similar to any youngsters today. Chi Ka Va Sau Ka Marathi Movie Review :

After narrating stories of human triumph in Harishchandrachi Factory and Elizabeth Ekadashi, director Paresh Mokashi attempts a rather quirky love story with his latest Chi. Ka Va Sou. Ka.

Savitri a.k.a Savi (Mrunmayee Godbole), a veterinary doctor and a staunch vegetarian (or ‘vegan’ as she calls herself in the film) and Satyaprakash a.ka. Satya(Lalit Prabhakar), an electrical engineer and an obsessed water conservationist are forced to marry each other by their parents. However, Savitri and Satyaprakash (a nod to the mythical pair of Satyawan and Savitri) are apprehensive about the same and unanimously take a decision, which leads to chaos among their families.

Romcom as a genre has been lately been explored too often by Marathi cinema. Be it adolescent love stories or tales that deal with Gen Y couples, many recent films have dealt with the same. Paresh Mokashi and co-writer Madhugandha Kulkarni give this love story a fresh spin by incorporating a unique twist in the tale. The twist comes in form of the condition put forth by Savi before she gives her to marrying Satya and is best left to be discovered by audiences.

The quirks of the lead characters and the apprehensions of their parents towards their terms help to add some interesting twists to the story. Mokashi and Kulkarni also use these quirks to take the story forward. Satya is omnipresent on social media but an introvert in real life. Savi is an individual striving for a cause and unable to bear any harm towards animals. Satyaprakash thrives on non vegetarian food, while Savitri despises those who consume it.

The makers waste no time in setting up the story and introducing us to the family members and friends of the lead actors who are equally loony. Among these, the characters that deserve a mention are Satyaprakash’s grandmom (Jyoti Subhash) who is going around with her next door neighbour (Satish Alekar), Savitri’s heavily pregnant sister (Sharmishtha Raut) who is understandably impatient and her overactive younger brother (Pushkar Lonarkar)adding to the chaos. And there’s also the marriage registrar employee (Bharat Ganeshpure) who doubles up as the narrator of the film.

The initial meeting between Satya and Savi’s families, the latter’s announcement of the dumbfounding condition to test their compatibility are much in sync with the film’s quirky tone. Yet these moments keep you glued to the seats thanks to the various laugh out loud moments. A standout scene is the one in which Satyaprakash and Savitri’s parents bond and pray for the alliance to not fruition. It works as a complete contrast to the usual matchmaking process where parents hope and do their best to make the twain meet.

A relationship can be successful when the partners accept each other’s weaknesses and help to overcome it. Mokashi dwells on this aspect as the lead characters help each other to fight the obstacles prevailing in their respective lives. Savi helps Satya to get the much needed for his solar project, while he helps her to raise funds for her hospital through social media.

But there are times when one gets the impression that the makers are trying too hard to be funny and quirky. Subsequently, certain scenes come across as loud and so do the characters that are a part of it. The conflict between Satyaprakash and Savitri lacks heft and could have been handled in a better way.

Lalit Prabahakar and Mrunmayee Godbole share a warm chemistry that makes their characters and performances even more relatable. The rest of the cast members also do a fine job though they appear loud at certain places

Despite its shortcomings, Chi Ka Va Sau Ka has several enjoyable and laugh out loud moments. If you are in the mood for some laughs and need to get over your everyday blues, then do give it a try.

Mrinmayee Godble was earlier seen in critically acclaimed Vees Mhanje Vees and Rajwade and Sons. Her next film “Chi va Chi Sau Ka” will be releasing this Friday. The Paresh Mokashi directed light hearted film has already created buzz as it marks the debut of Television heart-throb Lalit Prabhakar.

Tell us about your experience of working with Lalit?

We didn’t know each other before we started working for this film. As I am not an ardent fan of Marathi serials, I haven’t followed his work on the television. But I knew that he is a very popular household name due to his TV series. We both belong to theatre basically and we are passionate about acting.  Though this is Lalit’s first film, he is more experienced than me in front of camera. Because of his day today shooting for a TV serial he has great camera presence and understanding of the medium. This made very easy for him to adjust on the sets. Lalit motivated me and encouraged me for better work. A costar has to be very supportive, as I believe acting is not just saying your line and be done with it, but it is primarily reacting to what person in front of you is saying.

Tell us about your role and also how did you prepare for it.

This is a romcom- a comedy with a romantic angle. I am playing role of Savitri, she is a veterinary doctor and this is not just a profession for her. By nature, she is an animal lover and Lalit plays role of an environmentalist. Both of our characters have very strong principles which will create some unimaginable situations for us as well as for our families.

Interestingly, I and Lalit both are Kung Fu players in the film. Lalit has been learning this type of martial arts since sometime. But I have to learn Kung Fu for this film. As I was a national level basket ballplayer and also done Kalaripayettu ( Kerali martial Arts) so it became very easy for me to follow. Lalit and I had taken out Kung Fu sessions together where Paresh (director) and Madhugandha (writer) also joined us. This it worked as an ice breaker for all of us. As we started practicing together, we also get to know about the film and our characters. It was more like workshop and certain amount of chemistry was built. We had lots of fun on the sets, but at the same time we all were very professional and did out homework required for the shoot.

Paresh and Madhugandha have consistently delivered us good content driven cinema with a hard hitting message. How was your experience?

In my earlier film, Vees Mhanaje Vees, Madhugandha played a very small role and we met each other during the shoot. So far I have done the films which are not just about the entertainment but also has a very strong message which I would like to give out personally as well. Rajwade spoke about youth and its problems. Vees Mhanje Vees was about education scenario in rural Maharashtra. Chi vs Chi Sau Ka talks about animal welfare and environment, but this is not a very prechy film. The core of the film carries a message but it is wrapped in a complete entertainment package.

Paresh is a great director as he understands what an actor wants and actors are really vulnerable, and emotional. It is very imp for the director to be more compassionate, patient and clear in the communication. It made things a lot easier. He has very nice great healthy one -on-one relationship with all of the cast members. I have a great respect for him, but for me he is a great friend and very approachable for an actor.

Are you an animal lover in your real life as well?

Oh yes, I have two dogs at my Pune home. They are called Cyrus and Munshi. I have also adopted a dog at Mumbai residence.. He is very curious by nature so we have named him Sherlock. I have always been fond of animals. We shot at an actual animal rescue shelter in Mumbai. This was a great learning experience for me. I spent long time during shoot at this shelter, and observe how the animals are rescued, treated and relocated. I learnt a great deal about the animals and the cruelty of the human beings. This will help me in the future whenever I will see an animal torture.

Tell us about your future projects.

I am doing a bilingual film in Hindi and English directed by Kranti Kanade. His film revolves around a prestigious drama competition- Purushottam Karandak in Pune. I am looking forward for this film as the subject very close to me. I have also done a very small part in Akshay Kumar starrer Batman. Also, in theatre I am performing three plays. One is with Paresh Rawal called Dear Father (in Hindi and Gujrati) and another is an experimental play in Marathi with Asakt Kalamanch, a Pune based group. I am also doing a Hindi play based on the subject of Palestine. As the film will be releasing this weekend, I will resume my theatre work very soon.

Mrinmayee, Thanks for sharing us your thoughts about the film.  We wish you a best luck for the release of the film.

Lalit Prabhakar was shot to fame with Zee Marathi’s ‘Julun Yeti Reshimgathi’ serial & now his silver screen debut too is happening with Zee Studios’ ‘Chi Va Chi Sau Ka’. Here’s a little chat with Lalit about his debut release.

Tell us about Chi Va Chi Sau Ka! What is the story about?

The story of this film revolves around a young couple Satyaprakash and Savitri played by me and Mrinmayee Godbole respectively. Satyaprakash is an electrical engineer, Savitri is a Veterinary doctor. Both are busy with their professions and firm on their decisions. An arranged marriage is fixed for them but they want to try out their compatibility with each other and their in laws and their relatives and other friends before marriage and only then they would like to go ahead with the marriage. The post marriage happenings in their life have been presented in humorous way in this film.

Tell us about your character ‘Solar Putra – Satyaprakash’?

Satyaprakash is a die-hard environmentalist and is always thinking about how to conserve energy, and electricity and uses solar power and is known as Solar in the film. He goes to any extent for the environmental issues he believes in and is an interesting character.

How was it like to work with Mrinmayee Godbole?

We both have a theatre background and we gelled with each other and we understood each other very well and it was great fun to work with her as her character too is interesting and she knows martial arts and her character will certainly be loved by the audiences.

Tell us about your director,Paresh Mokashi?

He is a very good and sorted director having made acclaimed films like ‘Harishchandrachi Factory’ and ‘Elizabeth Ekadashi’ and it was a great learning experience to work with him and his wife and writer Madhugandha Kulkarni.

Your debut film is produced by Zee Studios! How does it feel?

Yes. Their films are different and have very good content and they are marketed and distributed well and their chief Nikhil Sane has all the knowledge of making good films and marketing and distributing them in such a way that most of the audiences are drawn in the first week.

So after ‘Chi Va Chi SauKa’ what’s next?

I have an interesting film called ‘TTMM – Tujha Tu Majha Mi’ coming up very soon.

The leading lady from the film Chi Va Chi Sau Ka, Mrinmayee Godbole has to prep her role with some serious moves of  Kung Fu. To make the role more intense Mrinmayee underwent Kung Fu training especially for the film. The film also stars Lalit Prabhakar in the leading role.

Sharing about her Kung Fu training Mrinmayee Godbole said, “So I have done Kalaripayattu in the past and I played basketball for almost ten years till the national level. But I had never done Kung Fu! Lalit and I trained for Kung Fu for one month before we started shooting. I’m supposed to be a blue belt in the film. Our trainer Shrikant Sir made us do very difficult exercises, stretches and strict training. He would make us do push-ups on our knuckles so we had bruised, black and blue knuckles all through the shooting and the film! It was a very hectic and grueling process and he helped us during the shoot also. We also got hurt and hit each other a lot,not intentionally, but while shooting.”

The trailers of the film have already created curiosity among the audience and the screen chemistry of Lalit and Mrinmayee looks wonderful.
