Ghanta Marathi Movie Review :

Ghantaa belongs to a genre that hardly has a history in Marathi, but has many examples in Bollywood & of course Hollywood. The most direct comparison could be well made with Aamir Khan’s Delhi Belly. Though the basic plot is common in these two films there is one significant difference. The three leads in Delhi Belly have a darker, realistic edge to them whereas here Raj (Amey), Umesh (Saksham) & Angad (Aroha) are cardboard cut outs. Though this is situational crime comedy, you still need interesting lead characters.

The actors though succeed in doing their jobs. The rest of the cast that has Pushkar Shrotri & Kishore Kadam as leaders of two gangs (one of which is political) are fabulous as always. The character of Murli Sharma needs a special mention. He has been established pretty well & brings in the essential unpredictability in this “Hira Kahan Hain” mystery. Though it could have been more justified if they had used him efficiently in the climax. Another stock character will stay memorable is that of a simple secretary (Pushkar’s) who is not bothered about the conflict at all instead he simply wants to go home early.

Ghanta is directed by a first timer, who has no background of this industry & deserves a lot of credit because he has genuinely made the film he wanted to make. Because there is nothing in the film that has been forcibly added to please any specific lot of audience. But throughout the film his inexperience is evident. Still it will be exciting to see what he comes up with when he brings his second film.

Visually Ghanta experiments a little too much & unnecessarily, the same applies to the omnipresent background score. However there’s a unique exception in a deliberately pretentious (& satirical) sad romantic song titled “Unbreakable” voiced by Hariharan. It works well in this setting. We would have actually loved a similar approach to the lives of these three characters especially in the first half.

The fate of Ghanta (in terms of box office) depends on those huge numbers of Amey Wagh fans. Importantly these fans also somewhat represent the new target audience of popular Marathi Cinema. The right amount of hype has been created by the Ghanta team. And if they watch Ghanta they’ll definitely enjoy it.

Overall:

Ghantaa is enjoyable & definitely worth a watch, the errors are there but they won’t hit you on the face. If you belong to a certain section of young audience who are still aloof from Marathi Cinema Ghantaa is worth to start with!

Ghanta is getting ready for 14 October release. The recently released trailer of this film promises us a good film with some great performances. This black comedy is directed by Shailesh Kale.

The film is about three youngsters who dreams to make it big in their life. How the situations change and their life bring some new twists and turns will be seen in this film. Out of the three youngsters one wants to become a famous dubbing artiste, another is an idiot and third is a charmer. However, a certain decision by these three friends goes wrong and they end up in the hands of two rival gans. What happens next- will see it on the big screen. The film stars Dil Dosti Duniyadari’s Kaivaly – Amey Wagh along with Aroh Welankar and Saksham Kulkarni in the lead roles. Pushkar Shrotri and Kishor Kadam also play important role in this film.

The makers of the film Ghanta recently released the music in an innovative event. Ghanta Toast (similar like Comedy Roast) was done with the three heroes of this film by Mahesh Manjrekar, Jitendra Joshi.

Amey Wagh, Saksham Kulkarni and Aroh Welankar and Amruta Khanvilkar were present for this Ghanta Toast. The event was hosted by Pushkar Shrotri, who is playing an important role in this film.

Ghanta has been using different techniques for the promotions including live motion poster and live chats on the social media. The film has been directed by Shailesh Kale. The film is produced by Dashami Creation, Brahmapura Pictures and Yellow Incorporation.  Dashami has earlier given hit serials like Durva, Majhe Man Tujhe Jhale and Pasant Aahe Mulgi. The film is written by Sumit Bonkar and Rahul Yashod.

The film will be releasing on 14 October.

Ghanta– a film starring Amey Wagh, Saksham Kulkarni and Aroh Welankar has released its teaser. The teaser promises us a complete entertainment with the hint of black comedy. The film is direceted by Shailesh Kale and will be releasing on 14 October.

The film also stars Pushkar Shrotri and Kishor Kadam in leading roles. The teaser shows three young boys and how they find themselves in difficult situations. The film has all the elements like love, lust, action, thriller, chase to give us a complete entertainment package. Amey Wagh, who rose on popularity charts with his role as “Kaivaly” is Zee Marathi’s serial Dil Dosti Duniyadari will be seen as not so good boy in this film. Saksham who is currently seen in Zee Yuva’s Love Lagn aani Lochya is also playing an important part in this film. Aroh was seen in critically acclaimed “Rege”.

The film is produced by Dashami Productions, Brahmaputra Pictures and Yelow Inc. The film will be releasing on 14 October all over Maharashtra.

Review:

Lai Bhaari last year marked the first time a Tamil/Telugu kind of a larger than life film becoming successful in marathi cinema. It was only a matter of time that the success of Lai Bhaari would be tried to be replicated. So, here comes Guru – a film with all the essential elements of a commercial potboiler a le south style.

Guru (Ankush Chaudhary), is a swindler who is in the ‘business of spare parts’ in Mumbai. Once while being chased by the police he witnesses a murder and the influential people involved in the murder force him to leave to his native place where his older brother, an upright man, still resides with his family. The villagers of his native place are under the threat of being forcefully evicted to make way for a ‘Mega City’ being planned on their land. A local advocate, along with Guru’s brother, vehemently oppose this project and firmly stand in the way of it. The advocate is bumped off and Guru’s brother attacked. Needless to mention, Guru comes to the rescue of the village and his brother, and what follows is anybody’s guess.

Ankush Chaudhary in the lead role is the best part about the film. He plays Guru with an undeniable charm and the role seems tailor made for him. Be it the actions scenes or the comic punches, Ankush adds his own flavor to it all. Murli Sharma as the menacing local politician hell bent grabbing the land of the villagers for the ‘mega city’ is also impressive. However, apart from these two you will be hard pressed to find anything appreciable about the film. The film might be sound on the technical side but the action scenes; the humour; the typical village belle who falls in love with the hero; all of it is so done to death that you struggle to find any originality in the film. Most of the punch lines like ‘Ghai hi vinashachi aai’ are lame and fall flat.

And what is with the ear deafening background score? My ears were buzzing with the extremely loud background score long after I was done with the screening. Many times the loud background score kills the tension that is being built in the scene. The effort to give Guru a particular garish look works, but the same cannot be said of the female lead played by Urmila Kanitkar; her make-up is so bright that it literally blinds us and we are left incapable of appreciating any other aspect of her performance.

Overall:

Guru is not much different than the many South films and their Hindi remakes that we have been subjected to in the last decade or so. Ankush Chaudhary in the lead role is what makes the film watchable.

Review:

When your concept is not only interesting but also heart-touching, more than half of the battle is won as far as audience’s satisfaction is concerned. But this is not the only goodness on offer in debutant Umesh Ghadge’s Welcome Zindagi. The film is thought-provoking, entertaining and something that will nudge you to start loving your life.

Welcome Zindagi revolves around Meera (Amruta Khanvilkar), who is doing well in her professional life as a journalist in Pune. However, her personal life is in complete disarray. Her mother, whom she dearly loved, passed away five years ago. Following this, Meera’s father got married to the woman the former hates (Rajeshwari Sachdev). If this wasn’t enough, Meera’s fiancé cheats her, which forces her to break her marriage.

Now, Meera struggles to find a single reason to stay alive. Hence, she decides to commit suicide. Just then, she meets the happy-go-lucky and bindaas Anand Prabhu (Swapnil Joshi). He runs an organization that trains people on how to perfectly commit suicide with the name of ‘Happy Ending Society’. He urges Meera to enroll for the course to be well prepared to end her life. After some hesitation, she agrees.

As aforementioned, the biggest strong point of Welcome Zindagi is its basic plot. It is something that a lot of city-dwellers, who are victims of materially easy but practically empty lives, would relate with. The film has a timely and heart-warming message for them. But this is achieved without being preachy and while providing some light-hearted entertainment.

The idea of providing training to potential suiciders is funnily shocking. This point threatens to take the proceedings on the redundant path but, thankfully, it only remains a threat as the grip is hardly lost ever.

But it is the major twist during the ending moments of the second halfthat takes the satisfaction to a higher level. It gives a strong message without saying anything and provides an overwhelming feeling as you leave the cinema hall.

But while you leave, you can’t help but think of a couple ofquestionable incidents in the first halfand the sequence of an event in the second half that forms a major story development. These points, however, won’t trouble you much.

The songs go well with the theme and are used wisely, without providing any scope for a loo break. DoP Prasad Bhende has captured simple scenes artistically, especially the sequence where Anand and Meera are traveling in an open jeep. The background score generates the right effect, although it’s loud at times.

Swapnil Joshi is once again lovable in a tailor-made role. He has performed a well-sketched character with his trademark charm. Amruta Khanvilkar gets plenty of scope to showcase her acting prowess and she does that very well. Rajeshwari Sachdev and the actor playing Meera’s father are decent.The actor in the role of Meera’s fiancé does an average job.

Urmila Kothare scores high in a difficult cameo.There are also some very good cameos from Prashant Damle, Mohan Agashe, Bharti Achrekar, Mahesh Manjrekar, Pushkar Shrotri, Murli Sharma, Vivek Lagoo and Jaywant Wadkar.

Overall:

Welcome Zindagi is a heartwarming affair that also entertains. However, it is truly sad to see such low-key promotions for the film. This might stop the film from a wider impact, which it deserves.

Synopsis :
