Court, Killa, Elizabeth Ekadashi Khwada shines at National Awards

Once again, Marathi films has proved their metal in National Awards. Court, a powerful and realistic film by debutant director Chiatanya Tamhane has won Suvarna Kamal (Best Feature Film) in 62nd National Awards. Court is a very powerful and stark depiction of the mundaneness of judicial procedure revealed
brilliantly by the film’s form.

Avinash Arun directed “Killa” has won Rajat Kamal for Best Marathi feature film. Killa has also been special mention for the lovable portrayals with rare aplomb of an impish and caring child.

Additionally, Paresh Mokashi’s delightful Elizabeth Ekadashi has won Best Children’s Film.

In Technical categories, Mahaveer Sabbanwal has won Best Autography – Location Sound recordist for the film Khwada. Bhaurao Karhade’s this film has also won a special jury award for a hard-hitting but restrained narration of the harsh realities of a nomadic shepherd community.

Also, Ravi Jadhav’s first short film Mitraa has won “Best Short Film” award in non-feature films category.
