Aditya  Paithankar  starred Gopya’s music launch was done recently in Mumbai. “Ganesh Film & Entertainment” Presentation “Gopya” is a predominantly musical film and it is slated for release all over Maharashtra on April 21. The film is directed by Raj Paithankar.

On the occasion, present were the singers, music director and the director of the film. Kiran-Raj has composed the songs and lyrics are by Raj Paithankar. Kiran has sung “Taana Na Taana Na…” and “Tu Tujhya Jeevanacha Shilpakar…” while Neha Rajpal has sung “Kaay Asa Kela Mee Gunaha…” Master Rohit Wagh has crooned the number “Aapli Khod Kuni Kaadaichi Nahi…”

Besides Aditya  Paithankar who has played  the title role, the film also stars Madhavi  Juvekar, Kamlesh Sawant, Manisha Paithankar, Uday Sabnis, Jaywant Wadkar, Ajay Jadhav, Sameer Vijayan, Rajesh Bhosle, Prakash Dhotre, Amir Tadwalkar, Manasi Murudkar and Ajit Jadhav.

The film is produced by Amol Bhalerao, Nitin Pagare and Raj Paithankar and co-produced by Sarjerao Mote, Atulraje Gayali and Dhanaji Gaikwad and Subhash Jagadhne.  

Raj Paithankar who has dabbled in direction as well as lyrics has also written the subject. Yogesh Sabnis has written the screenplay and the dialogues.  Cinematography is by Aniket K while Art Direction is by Devdatt Raut and Nandu Moharkar. Atul Salve is the production executive while Chinni Chetan is the choreographer. Sonu Paitankar has designed the sound for the film while Vishal Kotkar has edited the film.

Legendary singer Anand Shinde recently recorded a new song for Jackpot: a comedy film produced and directed by Ravi Khillare. The song tries to portray essence of this film and makers are hoping it will become a chart buster. The song was recorded at Ajiwasan studios in Mumbai.

The film stars newcomers like Ojas Patil, Shantanu Moghe, Abhishek Yadav-Patil, Jiya Chauhan, Rupali Jadhav and senior actors like Usha Nadkarni, Anant Jog, Nagesh Bhosle, Bhau Kadam, Mausami Tondvalkar, Rajesh Bhosle, Jairaj Nayar and Rajesh Jadhav.

Review:

A number of people associated with comedy films have agreed that making the audience laugh is the most difficult challenge. Hence, comedy is said to be a serious business. Films like Vajlach Pahije: Game Ki Shinema continue proving this theory right. In an attempt to pay tribute to the late Dada Kondke, the film turns out to be a wannabe laugh-riot.

Vajlach Pahije tells the story of two best friends Yash (Rajesh Bhosle) and Raj (Chinmay Udgirkar), who are struggling filmmakers. After having worked in the production team of few Marathi films, they are desperately searching for that one producer who would give them their big break as directors. They come in contact with the crazy film producer, Bhau Damdar (Bhalchandra Kadam).

Bhau is a pervert, always on the lookout to ‘enjoy’ struggling actresses through casting couch. He agrees to give break to Yash and Raj with the condition that they should provide a good-looking actress for his carnal desires. The two friends agree and they find the beautiful struggling actress, Supriya (Girija Joshi).

Among the various problems with the film, the biggest one lies with the basic plot itself. Yash and Raj are decent and honest individuals. So, why do they agree to Bhau’s filthy demand? More importantly, why should the audience have any sympathy for them? Similarly, it becomes difficult to enjoy the dark humorous side of Bhau for the kind of pervert he is. There are sympathy issues with the character of Supriya too.

However, even if you ignore these issues for the sake of comedy, there isn’t much in store for you. The paper thin story is told through a screenplay that lacks flow with some forceful and over-the-top comedy. To be fair, the film contains some genuinely funny moments but they are not enough to override the aforementioned many negative points. Plus, the abrupt climax makes you wonder as to how the film ended.

The music is also nothing much to talk about. The technical aspects like cinematography and editing can also be described in the same way. The background score is inconsistent. For example, when a scene transforms from comic to serious, the comic tune continues playing in the background.

Bhalchandra Kadam’s comic talent provides some respite. He has carried the responsibility well. Rajesh Bhosle provides a mature act. Chinmay Udgirkar has talent but he is unnecessarily made to mimic Shah Rukh Khan throughout the film. Plus, he doesn’t do it that well. In the role of the female lead, Girija Joshi is decent.

Overall:

Despite some hilarious moments, Vajlach Pahije: Game Ki Shinema is just a wannabe laugh-riot.

Bhalchandra Kadam is one of the leading comedians in Marathi entertainment industry who has his own following in Marathi theater and television and has done a lot of small roles in Marathi films but now his more prominent role will be seen in K Viraj’s forthcoming film ‘Vajlach Pahije- Game Ki Shinma’. We spoke to the endearing actor about his big film. A few excerpts.

How does it feel to be a leading man in a film after doing many small roles?

It feels great but there is also a lot of responsibility as I have to carry the film on my shoulders as I am the leading character of a producer who does a lot of funny things while producing the film and gives a break to a struggling director duo Yash- Raj played by Chinmay Udgirkar and Rajesh Bidwe and also takes a look at the seamy side of filmmaking.

There is a lot of double entendre dialogue in the film. Do you aspire to be the next Dada Kondke?

I am a huge fan of Dada and idolize him and can never achieve what he has done, but yes there are a lot of double meaning dialogues in the film but they are not offensive to anyone and don’t hit below the belt but are really entertaining and the script demands it and director K Viraj has done a wonderful job in making a comedy without going over the top.

Have you played your role taking inspiration from any character you have met or your experiences in the entertainment industry?

Yes. One can say so but the portrayal of a film producer is completely my imagination but not an exact replica of any producer I have met but maybe unconsciously I have drawn on some of the characters I have met in the industry.

How was it like working with director K.Viraj?

He had a complete bound script of the film and he had written the role keeping me in mind and also he is a great fan of Dada Kondke and he wanted to project me as the next Dada Kondke and I hope I have met his expectations.

What about the rest of the cast?

Chimany Udgirkar is a talented boy and so is Rajesh Bidwe and the leading lady Girija Joshi has done a wonderful job in the film as has Aarti Solanki who has the makings of a good comedienne.

Synopsis:
Vajlach Pahije written by Parag Kulkarni and directed by R. Viraj is a rib tickling Marathi film. It is a tribute to Dada Kondke, a Marathi actor and film Producer, who was known for his double entendre dialogues in the movie. The film revolves around a struggling director, Makarand Thokare alias Yash and a struggling actor, Raj, who try to cross all the hurdles to make a film and make it a big success for themselves. The two goons start their search for a Producer for their film. During the strive to make a film they come across a filthy Producer named Bhau Damdar who agrees to finance only on the condition of getting a beautiful heroine for the film.

Yash describes an unseen girl in such a way that Bhau is enthused and agrees to produce their film. He immediately springs them with advance and asks them to immediately get the heroine to him.

Yash and Raj’s hunt for a producer ends here, but the next hunt for the imaginary actress starts here. And their hunt ends at the Kolhapur Film City, where Raj accidentally meets his fake love, Supriya. Raj instantly informs Yash about the success of finding the girl. But Yash who stayed back with Bhau to discuss the script is upset as Bhau has finalized a horrendous script called Nal Damayanti- The Intimate Love Story!
Next day, everyone is excited to meet the heroine, particularly Bhau who has been day dreaming his Damayanti. The plot takes a turn when Raj gets Supriya to Bhau’s place and to everyone’s surprise Supriya is Yash’s sister!

Bhau with his sinister intentions and desires signs Supriya instantly and hands her a bag full of cash as her signing and another bag of cash to Yash to start the film but the film takes a turn by how they intend to make a genuine film with the allocated funds by deceiving Bhau, is the ultimate crux of the story.

Here after begins a hilarious plot of rescuing Supriya from Bhau’s clutches and shooting a film of his choice using Bhau’s money. Will they succeed in their mission? Raj and Supriya really fall in love? What efforts they take to save Supriya from Bhau and how successfully they complete their film – Producer Jomaat Director Comaat!
