This video was released on AVK Entertainment’s official YouTube channel on 2nd May on the anniversary of very First Indian film ‘Raja Harishchandra’ as a tribute, released in 1913 this film was made by Marathi Manoos Dadasaheb Phalke. The film has been shot at various locations of Lavasa, Alandi, Mumbai, Thane and Pune.

The film will introduce a fresh couple- Alhad Andore and Radhika. The look of these two youngsters has been kept under the wraps. The film is a love story and will be a family entertainer. The DoP for the film is Suresh Deshmane and music has been composed by Pankaj Padghan.

Whenever Kedar Shinde, Bharat Jadhav and Ankush Chaudhari has teamed up for a project, a brilliant art is born. Right from All The Best to recently released Aga Bai Arechya 2, the group has been successful to give box office hits. The trio will be soon working together once again in a film called Kalla. The film will also star Siddharth Jadhav and Alka Kubal.

Recently, Siddharth Jadhav tweeted about this film in one line “Marutatmaj Mera Naam, Superhero banana mera kaam”. Though this does not clearly tell us anything about the film, yet we can surely tell that this will be another comedy film by Kedar. Bharat, Ankush and Siddharth have given us many comedy hits in the past. Bharat’s Punha Sahi re Sahi (directed by Kedar) has been doing fantastically on the stage.

The film also stars Alka Kubal in a different role. Alka has been away from the screen for many years and her comeback film will be anticipated by the audience. Kalla produced under the banner Bharat Jadhav Entertainment Private Limited.

On the occasion of Gurupaurnima, Kedar Shinde, Santosh Pawar and Bharat Jadhav will be presenting a special tribute to Shaheer Sable in an innovative program “Mee ani Shaheer Sable” The program will feature highlight from his life, some memoirs, incidents and renditions of his songs and skits. Along with these three stars singers Prasenjit Kosambi, Rohit Raut, and Sayali Pankaj will also be performing.

The program is written by Vasundhara Sable, daughter of Shaheer Sable and produced by Bela Shinde (Kedar Shinde Productions) and Narendra Firodiya. The event has been organized at three venues. Details are as follows:

Review:

The basic prerequisite for the sequel of a successful film is an interesting concept that takes the franchise forward. Its clear absence becomes the reason for the downfall of Kedar Shinde’s Marathi movie Aga Bai Arechya 2.

Unfortunately, this is not its only problem area. Such a description also means that the film is way below the enjoyable and humorous first film in the franchise Aga Bai Arechya (2004), which starred Sanjay Narvekar in the lead.

The film centers round Shubhangi aka Shubha (Sonali Kulkarni). She is in her 30s but not yet married due to a mysterious and tragic condition in her life. As soon as she touches her lover in any way, the latter gets involved in a serious accident. This has been going on since her childhood.

Intrigued by the story of Shubha’s life, author Vikram (Dharmendra Gohil) decides to write a book on her life. Initially, she strictly refuses but slowly gets convinced about Vikram’s sincerity. She reveals to him about her past lovers (Bharat Jadhav, Prasad Oak and Madhav Deochake). Will her unusual ‘curse’ continue to torment her? Or will it set her free finally?

Aga Bai Arechya 2 suffers from an unconvincing concept, which is taken forward through a questionable plot point. Seriously, why would Shubha allow a complete stranger to narrate her tragic personal story to the world considering her situation? But what takes the cake is the important turn in the second half. It’s not possible to reveal much to avoid spoilers but there is no harm in saying that this particular point induces unintentional laughter.

Also, the overall setting and characters appear outdated in today’s era. So, what do we have going for the film? Being the sequel of a humorous movie, thankfully there is some amount of genuine laughter that stops the film from completely falling apart.

Nishaad’s music is another plus point. Songs like ‘Ek Porgi Sandhyakali’,‘Dil Mera’, ‘Maza Dev Kuni Pahila’ and ‘Jagnyache Bhaan He’ are good enough to take back home. Suresh Deshmane, the DoP has provided with satisfying glimpses of the Konkan region. The rest of the technicalities are decent.

Sonali Kulkarni is one of the finest actors around. She brings in her goodness to overshadow the fallacies and also manages to look ravishing. But it would have been better if she wasn’t asked to scream at times. Dharmendra Gohil, known for his theatre performances, makes a confident debut in Marathi cinema.

Bharat Jadhav displays his skills well in a hatke role. In cameos,Prasad Oak and Madhav Deochake are average and the two girls playing younger Shubha provide likable acts. The rest of the supporting cast is decent.

Overall:

Aga Bai Arechyaa 2 fails due to basic issues. The presence of Sonali Kulkarni in the lead and the family-oriented subject will help the film earn well at the box office in the first week.

Surabhi Hande who is popularly known as Mhalsadevi from the popular show ‘Jai Malhar’ on ZEE MARATHI is all set to make her big screen debut with Kedar Shinde’s ‘Aga Bai Arechyaa 2‘ where she is paired opposite Dharam Gohil who has acted in plays of many languages both making their debuts as per Kedar Shinde’s principal that ” if a chance is given to a newcomer he or she can definitely make it big but there is a risk in working with newcomers but it also energizes me an the unit”.

Surabhi will essay the teen version of the older Sonali Kulkarni. Surabhi is from Nagpur but she completed her education till 12th in Jalgaon and the further studies in her home town Nagpur where she acted in many plays including single act plays , commercial plays and the State Govt Competitions and she toured the whole country on account of these plays. Surabhi had first acted in a film called ‘StandBy’ when she was still a student in 11th standard and then did a serial called Ambatgoad after which she shifted to Mumbai and then gave an audition for Kothari Brothers but then got a call for ‘Jai Malhar‘ for the role of Mhalsadevi and surprisingly got selected for Kedar Shinde‘s ‘Agabai Areechya-2’ which she considers as her big break. She says Agabai Arrechya 2 is a tender but different love story but not the typical love story where she plays a young girl in love called Shubhangi and this is the story of Shubangi’s love and since she was simultaneously acting as Mhalsa, Shubhangi would have overtones while essaying Shubhangi’s character but director Kedar Shinde would everytime point out to me to get into Shubhangi’s character and get out of Mhalsa’scharacter.

Dharam Gohil , the young lead has worked in many Gujarati, Hindi, Marathi, and English plays and has worked in plays right from his school days and has done workshops with theater guru’s like Vijaya Mehta, Satyadev Dubey and Chetan Datar andhas done two small Gujarathi films and was surprised when Kedar Shinde spotted him in a play and offered him role in Agabai Arrechya 2. He says, ” I was aware that new relationships flower during plays but while shooting for Agabai Arrechya 2, I had the same experience and Kedar Shinde and Sonali Kulkarni really made me comfortable and I am thankful to them”.” We had a blast shooting for this film”.
