Keeping in my mind the taste of the audience, Zee Talkies has consistently provided wholesomely entertaining content to the viewers. Now they have made an exclusively unique experiment. Zee Talkies has produced Marathi’s first silent thriller-horror movie.

‘Tathastu’ is one of a kind silent thriller & the first in Marathi. The film won’t have a single dialogue & hence other aspects like the concept-story, the performances of actors & of course the direction’s vision will all come into play. The length of the film is 1 hr only. Which means it will be one sharp satire that can definitely send shivers down our spine. The film stars talented actors like Sandip Pathak & Madhavi Nimkar in prominent roles. Zee Talkies deserves credit for helping such new experiments & exposing them to the audience of Maharashtra.

It will be interesting to see what more experiments Zee Talkies comes up with in the near future. As of now don’t forget to experience this extremely rare cinematic experiment, ‘Tathastu’ on 3rd & 4th December (Saturday-Sunday) at 10 pm only on Zee Talkies.

Zee Talkies recently presented a live musical event “Yaad Lagala” in Pune Festival. The televised event will be broadcast on Zee Talkies at 12 noon and 6 pm on 2 October.

The event will start by a dance performance by Mrunmayee Deshpande. Lavani jugalabandi (dance off) by Megha Ghadghe and Dipali Sayyad will be a highlight of this event. Marathi folk performances like Gavalan and Batavani will be performed by Atul Todankar, Shashikant Kerkar, Swati Deval, Namrata Avate, Prakash and Nitin.

A skit – Sairatrao vs Jhingatrao will feature Sagar Karande, Kushal Badrike, Pandharinath Kamble, Megha Ghadge. Sasnkruti Balgude and Aniket Vishwasrao will perform on romantic duets. Mansi Naik and Sonali Kulkarni will also perform in this event.

Comedy is an underrated art. It is one of the most difficult thing to make people laugh. ‘Zee Talkies Comedy Awards’ has been the forerunner in appreciating humour in Marathi film and theatre industry. The annual award show was held this year as well in its full glory at the Ravindra Natyamandir. The theme this year was ‘Kal Aaj Aur Kal’.

‘Murder Mestri’ and ‘Shree Bai Samarth’were awarded the Best Film and Best Play, respectively. Veteran actor Prashant Damle won the Best Actor award, while Kranti Redkar and Manasi Naik were honoured with the Best Actress award at the ceremony. There was a separated section for reprised plays as well and the Best Play award there went to Sanshay Kallol. In the same section Prashant Damle (Sanshay Kallol) and Hemangi Kavi (Ti Phulrani) were announced as the Best Actor and Best Actress.

Madhukar Toradmal who has graced the stage and films in a career of over 5 decades was honoured with the Life Time Achievement Award. ‘Loknatya Vishesh Puraskar’ was awarded to the great performer from Konkan, Mahadev Chodnekar. Senior actor Arun Nalwade was also given the Special Jury Award.

The excitement in the announcement of awards, the top quality performances and the enthusiastic response from the audience made the even a memorable night.
