A new song from movie ‘Rang He Premache Rangeele’ was released recently. ‘Pahuni Tula Na Kalale’, a romantic track is out. The song is being picturised on Kunal Devalkar and Siddhi Dalvi.

The song depicts the feelings of these college going characters. Both the characters have a secret liking for each other and how their love progresses, is shown in this romantic number. The very talented Keval Walanj has sung and composed the song. While, Vipul Shivalkar has penned down the lyrics. The music of this fresh romantic number is so soothing, that, it holds on to your soul. It will surely take the audiences on a romantic ride.

The movie is directed by Abhishek Karangutkar, produced by Amit Pradhan, Priyanka Patil and Kiran Harchande under A&A Films and Shreeji Entertainment. ‘Raang He Premache Rangeele’ is slated to release on December 15.

The music launch of the film Nivdung was held recently with great fanfare at the Juhu based Sea Side Hotel. The film stars Bhushan Pradhan, Sanskruti Balgude, Sara Shrawan, Shekhar Phadke, Prajakta Dighe and Astad Kale among others. Present on the occasion were producer-director Munawar Bhagat, music director Rafiq Shaikh, actors Bhushan Pradhan, Sanskruti Balgude, Shekhar Phadke, associate director Shashi Meena, cinematographer Akn Sebasten, Mohit Poddar of Zee Music and distributor Girish Wankhede, besides celebrities from both the Marathi as well as the Hindi film industry.

Nivdung has six songs, all interwoven with the subject and hence very vital to the film. Music Director Rafiq Shaikh has composed the songs in different moods. The devotional number “Vittala Vittala” has been written by Zaheer Kalaam and sung by Swapnil Bandodkar, the lavni “Mazya Jwanila Angabhar Bhijva” written by Zaheer Kalaam sung by Urmila Dhangar. The sad song “Maze Mala Kale Na “ is written by Prasad Kulkarni has been sung by Neha Rajpal and Rafiq Shaikh. The Ghazal written by poet Sharad “Teela Mee Pahile” has also been sung by Neha Rajpal and Rafiq Shaikh. Rafiq Shaikh has also sang the song “Kuberachya Gharat” with Suresh Wadkar. “Dhondi Dhondi Pani De” written by Kalaam also has been sung by Rafiq Shaikh.

Munawar Bhagat who is making his debut as a director in Marathi film with Nivdung has handled a grave issue like drought and made it entertaining to the core with the help of lyrics and music. Leading playback singers of Marathi Cinema have crooned all the numbers of the film.

The story has been written by Munawar Bhagat while the screenplay and the dialogues have been written by Mahendra Patil. Shashikant Meena is the associate director while Akn Sebasten is the cinematographer. Megha Sampat has choreographed three songs. Sandeep More is the Executive Producer.

The film is produced under the banners of Kakaji Arts and Films and the producers are Pandharinath Bhalerao, Santukrao Kolte and Vinod Vaishnav. The film stars Mohan Joshi, Mangesh Desai , Sonali Kulkarni, Sara Shravan, Ramesh Vani and Prabhakar More in leading roles.

Kakaji Arts and Films have produced many popular music videos and this will be their first film production. The plot of the film revolves around a girl who conquers the stage with her Lavani dancing and becomes Lavani queen.

The story of the film is written by Sanjay Kolte and screenplay and dialogues and music is by Pandharinath Bhaleraon and Vinod Vaishnav. The DOP is Jitendra Acharekar and choreography is by Kiran Kakde.

After successfully pairing up in TV series Pinjra, Bhushan Pradhan and Sanskruti Balgude will be seen on a silver screen as a romantic couple in upcoming Nivadung. The film was recently announced by the producer-director of the film Munawar Shameem. This will be his first production in Marathi.

Shameem has earlier produced some Hindi films. Nivadung is a love story with a social drama. The film also stars Sara Shrawan, Astad Kale, Prajakta Dighe, Shekhar Phadke.

The screenplay and dialogues of the film are written by Mahendra Patil.
The DOP will be A Ken Sebastia. The music will be composed by Rafique Shaikh.
The film goes on the floor by first week of the April.

Marathi Taraka – a dance and song extravaganza by producer Mahesh Tilekar recently completed its 500 shows. The event was attended by dancing divas- Shridevi and Madhuri Dixit.

Varsha Usgaonkar, Kishori Godbole, Hemangi Kavi, Neha Pendse, Ketaki Palav, BHargavi Chirmule, Kranti Redkar, Shruti Marathe, Prajakta Mali, Sara Shravan, Sanskruti Balgude, Shweta Shinde, Amruta Khanvilkar, Teja Devkar and Prachi Pisat performed on the super hit songs on Shreedevi and Madhuri as a tribute.

Shridevi wished best luck for the dancers and Madhuri won everyone’s heart by speaking in Marathi. Madhuri also performed on her famous “hamari atariya pe” and audience loved it.

The event also had performances by Lalit Prabhakar, Adinath Kothare and king of slomo Raghav Juyal. All the performances were choreographed by Subhash Nakashe and Hitesh Patil.

Review:

Director duo Rupesh Katare and Nitin Gawde’s What About Savarkar? is yet another film that proves that good intentions amount to nothing in a film if the content is poor. Although the makers have taken efforts to arouse nationalistic sentiments, the film falls flat by being poor in writing, overambitious and jingoistic.

The film centers on Abhiman Marathe (Shrikant Bhide), who literally worships the late revolutionary Vinayak Damodar Savarkar aka Veer Savarkar. Abhiman stays with his family and is in love with a Manipuri girl (Sara Shrawan). His life takes a frustrating turn when a minister at the Centre insults Savarkar. Now, Abhiman takes it upon himself to avenge the insult of his idol.

The basic problem here lies with the basic plot itself, which is not only practically impossible but also uninteresting. Seriously, why should the audience root for a man who wants to put a garland of chappals around someone’s neck? How is that going to benefit the nation or Savarkar? On top of that, once the character goes on his mission, the film has basically no story to tell till the climax when he executes his plan.

So, the audience is taken on a sightseeing tour starting from Konkan and then leading onto Manipur, Amritsar and Delhi. All this while (and almost for the entire film), we are dished out underdeveloped characters, erroneous situations and, most importantly, jingoism in the name of patriotism. Using the slogan ‘Vande Mataram’ again and again without a sensible content doesn’t arouse nationalistic feelings.

Naturally, you expect something similar from the climax. But you are taken by surprise since the ending moments are more absurd than the rest of the movie.

The song ‘Jayostute’, written by Savarkar himself, is the biggest plus point. The rest of the songs aren’t impressive with few being forceful. The camerawork appears artistic while capturing locales of Konkan and Manipur.

Shrikant Bhide does an average job as the main lead. He shows signs of talent but is let down by the content and so are the rest of the actors. Atul Todankar is the best of the lot. Sharad Ponkshe, as Abhiman’s grandfather, gives a mature performance. But there doesn’t seem to be an age difference between his character and the one played by his son. Sara Shravan looks good and acts average. Avinash Narkar overdoes on few occasions.

Overall:

What About Savarkar? fails to create an impact. The film will have a tough time at the box office.
