Marathi Filmfare Awards will be telecast on Colors Marathi on 28 February at 7 pm. This is the first year of Marathi Filmfare Awards. The event was rocked by Dr. Prakash Baba Amte as it collected black lady for Best Film, Best Actress (Sonali Kulkarni) and Best Actor (Nana Patekar). Senior actor Ramesh Dev has been honoured with Lifetime achievement award.

The highlight of the event is Sachin Pilgaonkar’s performance. Dance performances by Mansi Naik, Sonalee Kulkarni, Amruta Khanvilkar and Neha Pendse are also very interesting. Other performances include laser act by Adinath Kothare, Vaishali Samant, Kranti Redkar and Bharat Jadhav. The event has been hosted by Pushkar Shrotri and Prasad Oak. Bollywood celebrities like Vidya Balan, Varun Dhawan and Tabu were also present for this event.

The 8th edition of the Goa Marathi Film Festival, an initiative of Vinsan World, was held from 17th to 19th July, 2015 at Kala Academy, Inox and Maquinez Palace, Panjim. The opening ceremony was held at the hands of the CM of Goa, Manohar Parrikar and Girish Kulkarni and Umesh Kulkarni’s ‘Highway‘ was the opening film. In continuation of their support to the festival, Waman Hari Pethe Jewellers was the title sponsor of this year’s edition of the festival..”

This year, the festival saw the premier of three highly anticipated films, Highway, Panhala and Nilkanth Master. National Award Winning Director Umesh Kulkarni’s new directorial venture, ‘Highway’ is a film to watch out for. The film narrates a story that unravels on the Pune-Mumbai highway and looks at situations in a different perspective, showcasing life in the two metros. ‘Nilkanth Master’ is a love story set during the pre-Independence era in Maharashtra, directed by acclaimed film maker Gajendra Ahire. ‘Panhala’, directed by Nagesh Bhosle , highlights the lives of two young couples, each with troubled pasts, who literally crash into one another when their cars meet with a bizarre accident at Panhala, a hill-station in Western Maharashtra.

The festival schedule consists of a selection of critically acclaimed movies of the season comprising of several National Award Winning films such as ‘Court’, ‘Killa’, ‘Khwada’ and ‘Elizabeth Ekadashi’, and other entertaining and inspiring movies such as Dr. Prakash Baba Amte, Timepass 2, Dusari Goshta, Happy Journey, Sugar, Salt ani Prem, Sandook, Jayjaykar, Siddhant, Nagrik, Welcome Zindagi and A Paying Ghost.

Ramesh Deo Productions and Apar Entertainment are known for making quality cinema. Muhurat ceremony of films Lets Change and Dabba Gul produced by these production houses was recently held in Mumbai. Maharashtra ‘s Chief Minister Devendra Fadanvis gave a clap in a small ceremony organised at Varsha Bungalow and the muhurat ceremony of both the films took place. While Lets Change is a Hindi and Dabba Gul will be made in Marathi. Though both the films convey social message they will be presented in an entertaining manner. Director Rohit Arya will be directing both the films.

Marathi film Dabba Gul is based on corruption. While the government is building public toilets but there is a huge amount of corruption in the building of public toilets and Dabba Gul will expose this issue. Along with cleanliness the film Dabba Gul will also put a light on the issue of corruption. The story will be presented through two journalists. Producer Ramesh Deo said, “If there is a will, we can do any work easily. That’s the message we are going to convey through both films.”

Director Rohit Arya informed that we are not trying to preach people but in the film but we are making a masala film in very entertaining style.

A film based on a short story inspired by a true incident in the life of eminent marathi writer ,Mr. P.L.Deshpande in the year 1957. The name of the short story is “Mhais “and is very popular in Marathicommunity all over the world.

The story “ Mhais “ alias Chaandi shows us the chaos created by a buffalo, when she comes under a st bus, which is going to Mumbai , from a small village in Konkan.

What follows is a Chaotic Hillarious drama , between the owners of the buffalo and the passengers in the bus, which depicts typical demenour, nature and attitude of the marathi manoos in konkan and local politics………
