Nana sets up a foundation to provide relief for draught affected farmers

Farmers’ suicide is Maharashtra’s one of the huge social problems. The farmers are draught affected and cannot repay the loans due to shortage of harvest resort to suicide. Maharashtra government and NGOs have been working tirelessly to lessen the burden of such farmers. To aid in this cause two Marathi superstars Nana Patekar and Makrand Anaspure have come forward and established a foundation called Naam Foundation.

Nana and Makrand have been visiting the draught affected areas in the past few weeks and understand the root cause of such suicides. Both have decided to start a foundation for financial assistance to such farmers. Social media and Marathi celebrities have been enthusiastic about this foundation. Donors have been actively donated to this foundation.

Nana Patekar who is mostly known for his roles in Hindi films, Marathi films and theatre has always been active about social causes. Time and again he has shown his social activism by supporting and aiding various government and non-government organizations. Makrand Anaspure, called as Makya by his fans enjoys an unparallel stardom in Maharashtra has joined for this cause with Nana. Along with Nana and Makrand, many Marathi celebrities have come forward to provide some relief for the draught-affected farmers.

The Naam Foundation was recently registered in Mumbai and donors can pay directly to its bank account of State Bank of India. It has been reported that contributions have been pouring to this cause and the Foundation wished to take another step forward by starting a concrete solution for this region and providing jobs and education for the youth of draught affected farmers.
