Ruturaj Dhalgade, a director of recently released “Lost & Found” has announced his next mega-project. After various Hindi and Bengali (and some south also) adaptations of Devdas, Dhalgade will be directing Marathi version of Devdas where Mangesh Desai will be playing title role.
Mangesh Desai’s Ekk Albela, a biopic on Bhagwandada was critically acclaimed and he was especially appreciated for his acting. The film, however, failed on the box office. Director Dhalgade has recently released Lost & Found, a film about the increasing loneliness issues in the society.
Devdas, a novel by Bengali writer Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay was made into a film in 1936 where K L Saigal played the role. Since then, Dilip Kumar, Shah Rukh Khan and Abhay Deol (Dev D) has played this role. Dhalgade’s Devdas will be set in 1990’s Maharashtra. The details about the female leads for this film have not been announced yet.
The teaser for this film was recently shared on the social media platforms. The teaser shows Mangesh Desai alone with some beautifully written dialogues. The teaser has definitely increased anticipation for this film. The film is slated to release very soon.
