A rocking action film ‘Rocky‘ starring a dashing new hero Sandeep Salve has arrived. The trailer of the film was recently launched by popular Bollywood choreographer Ahmed Khan & since then it has created excitement among the audiences on social media. ‘Paperdoll Entertainment’ presents & produced by ‘Seven Seas’ & ‘Dream Weaver’ production, ‘Rocky’ is set to release in theatres on 8th of March.

This film is directed by Adnan A. Sheikh who worked as an assistant director in the Bollywood action film ‘Baaghi 2’. The film is said to have the right blend of action, emotion, drama & romance making the film a complete entertainment package. The story is of a young man who fights for his love & family against all odds! Sandeep Salve’s physique has already attracted a lot of audience towards the film!

Synopsis : This is a Marathi feature film titled ‘Barayan’. 

As the title suggests it is a story or rather ‘Ramayan’ that revolves around the year Baravi (12th Standard).

Most of us in our school life are threatened by this number i.e. 12th standard board examination. The social surrounding of our society these days has given lot of importance to the board examination thereby resulting in unnecessary burden on the student and putting performance pressure on him/her. Parent’s knowingly or unknowingly go with the flow and expect the same from their children putting unrealistic burden on the student. The overall education scenario has become very commercial. If the student does not perform in his 12th than he cannot do anything good with his/her life is a general perception of parents in particular and the society in general. 12th has become a turning point year. If one does not perform in this year than that’s the end of his/her career. Traditional mindset of the society is that Medical or Engineering are the only two major options. The film has subtly but in an ‘entertaining manner’ tried to highlight this aspect of our educational system and how we are becoming part of this. 

The story of the film revolves around incidents based on this one year in the life of our protagonist and his journey to engineering college after that. A story that unfolds various experiences of our protagonist, his learning during the process of him seeking education and identifying his ultimate interest. How his social surrounding is enabling him to grow as a person. The protagonist of the film represents today’s student and the challenges faced by him to understand his passion. 

The story of the film is set in a serene and calm town of Konkan, surrounded by mesmerizing seashore and beautiful fort. It is purely a family drama.

Since many years, various societal issues are being showcased through the medium of cinema. Many movies have sharply presented such issues before the audiences. One such upcoming comedy flick ‘Dhingana,’ is seen unrolling the infamous chit fund scam. This movie which is made under Mamta Production, Produced by Sameer Sadanand, Directed by Chandrakant Dudhgaonkar is slated to release on December 8.

Many a times, we see people who are eager to make a quick buck falling prey to such money laundering scams. Holding on to the same issue, ‘Dhingana’ reveals the story of a youth named Rajaram who fights to lift one such village which falls prey to such chit fund scam. Whether, Rajaram will succeed in his mission or will he get tangled into this menace, one need to watch ‘Dhingana’. It will be a treat to watch this film as Bollywood’s infamous badass actors like Raza Murad, Shahbaz Khan, Avtar Gill and Kunika will be seen playing the lead roles. Also, actors like Priyadarsham Jadhav, Prajakta Hanamghar, Anshuman Vichare, Swapnil Rajshekhar and Prakash Dhotre will also be seen in this movie.

‘Rahul Dev, a known face in Hindi TV and Films was injured on the sets of Rocky. He was shooting a fighting scene with lead actor Sandeep Salve at Surve Farm.

For this particular scene, Rahul decided to not to use any dummy and performed all his stunts by himself. Unfortunately, during an intense fight sequence he lost his balance and fell on a tubelight set resulting an arm injury. The shooting was immediately stopped, but after getting first aid, Rahul decided to complete the scene. The entire cast and crew of the film was amazed by his professional commitment. Rahul is now fine and receiving proper medical treatment.

Rocky will be his first Marathi film. The shooting of this is currently going on. The film is produced by Seven Seas and Dream Weaver Productions.

Famous Bollywood choreographer recently performed a Muhurat clap for the upcoming action thriller Rocky.

The film will mark debut of Sandeep Salve and Akshaya Hindalkar as a leading pair. Along with these two newcomers, the film stars Ashok Shinde, Yatin karyekar, Kranti Redkar, Ganesh Yadav, Vinit Sharma, Swapnil Rajshekhar and Dipti Bhagwat. Rahul Dev, a reknonwn Bollywood actor will also be seen for the first time in a Marathi film.

The film is produced by Mahesh Desai, Nitin Shilkar, Prashant Tripathi, Himanshu Ashar and directed by Adnan Shekh. The story for the film is written by Adnan Shekh and Vihar Ghag and dialogues are by Adity Halbe. The music for this film has been composed by Sameer Saptiskar and Vaseem Sadani.

Review:

The police are undoubtedly one of the most overworked public servants in the state. They do not have any fixed duty hours; they are underpaid; and the housing colonies in which they live are crumbling structures. Police Line (a term used for colonies that house police) directed by Raju Parsekar attempts throws some light on the issues faced by the constables of the police.

The screenplay here just peeks into the life of a number of character living in a housing colony of the police and tries to portray all their trials and tribulations. It lacks any sort of a plot. Though a lack of plot isn’t necessarily a recipe for disaster, but the characters here are poorly sketched and a little too many for our liking. Throughout the whole first half we are just introduced to these characters and almost nothing significant of any sort happens in the film. The first half is a serious test of our patience. The proceedings are so drab that I was finding difficult to not doze off. The treatment is very marathi tv like, full of melodrama and very poor acting.

There isn’t exactly a lead character here, but Bala played by Santosh Juvekar has been given the most screen time. He is the son of a retired police constable who is an upright gentleman, proud of the honesty with which he has performed his duty of a policeman. His married elder son, who has also joined the police, doesn’t believe in his father’s ideals and blames them for his family’s misery. Bala is a studious young man who plans to become a software engineer.

There are a number of other such families living in the same housing colony that the film sheds light on, but not even a single one of their stories holds our attention. The filmmaking is very outdated and bland. The setting is based in the 90s for the most part and it also feels that the film too was made in the 90s. There are numerous cringe-worthy scenes that had me squirming in my seat. Another aspect that works completely against the film is the preachy tone. Right from the voice over in the beginning the preaching begins and doesn’t end till the end credits stop rolling. Some characters just go on and on about the miseries of a police constable.

In a well-intentioned film like Police Line, I always make that extra effort to find something positive. But, unfortunately, apart from the noble intentions I couldn’t find anything even remotely worthy of any praise. The policemen, much like the policies of the government, have here been given a raw deal; they deserved hell of a lot better.

Overall:

A well-intentioned film, but drab and preachy.
