The first chapter of a discussion forum called, ‘V. Shantaram Cine Cultural Centre’ launched by the prestigious ‘V. Shantaram Motion Pictures’ Trust was convened in the auspicious presence of the renowned art director Shri. Nitin Desai. He candidly expressed the saga of his successful passage in the glorious career of making art direction and organising the required infrastructure for the same. While mentioning that the national award conferred upon him for his novel art direction for the legendary Bollywood film, ‘1942: A Love Story’ proved to be a turning point of no looking back for him, Mr. Nitin Desai went about to mention specifically that sustaining perseverance and analytical approach to insightfully study the requirements of a film are extremely essential for pursuing a career in the domain of art direction by speaking on designing the sets of a variety of entertainment programs ranging from widely acclaimed historical daily soaps like ‘Chanakya’ and ‘Discovery of India’ to a wide range of extraordinary movies like ‘1942: A Love Story’, ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’, ‘Lagaan’ and ‘Devdas’ were shown during this session of the program to highlight the complicated intricacies of making a perfect art direction that outstandingly meets the desired requirements.
He also presented a few exciting demonstrations of how a given mammoth set gets actually designed, the nitty-gritties of which left the audiences completely wonderstruck. Mr. Ashutosh Ghorpade, the director of Cultural Activities Directorate lighted the sacred lamp to inaugurate the session. The concept & idea is of writer-director Harshal Bandivdekar & comparing was carried done by cine-journalist Amit Bhandari.
