Noted film director and creative producer Mangesh Hadawale will be visiting USA from September 26-October 7, 2014 as MarathiUSA an organization of Maharashtrians in USA hosts a “Festival of Films of Mangesh Hadawale”. As part of the festival, MarathiUSA in collaboration with various Marathi Mandals will screen some of the films by Mangesh Hadwale in Chicago, Ann Arbor and Detroit areas. The schedule includes films like Tingya, Dekh Indian Circus and Tapaal.

Tingya is based on the life of a rural boy and his love and friendship with his bull. It concentrates on the hardships faced by the farmers. Tingya was nominated and have won numerous awards and was screened at the Pune International Film Festival and the ‘Mumbai Academy of Movies Images’.Tingya have won best film award at ‘Mumbai Academy of Movies Images’ in Mumbai on 14 March 2008. Child artist (SharadGeokar) who played the role of rural boy won National Film Award for Best Child Artist for the year 2008.

Dekh Indian Circus provides an entertaining metaphor for rural India’s struggle to access the supposed economic miracle of that east Asian nation. The film premiered at 16th Busan Film Festival in the New Currents section, opening to positive review from critics and winning the Audience Choice award. Nawazuddin Siddiqui &Tannishtha Chatterjee won the best actor and actress awards respectively for this movie at the 12th annual New York Indian Film Festival (NYIFF).

Tapaal is directed by Laxman Utekar. Mangesh Hadawale is the script writer and creative Producer. The film is set in an Indian village in 1977. The film involves an incident in the life of a postman, serving a small rural community when letter were the only bridge connecting villages to the rest of the world. The film has won several awards including Maharashtra State Award and Film Festival of South Africa. Cast includes Nandu Madhav, Veena Jamkar and Milind Gunaji.

MarathiUSA is Ann Arbor Michigan USA based organization for the promotion of Marathi performing arts and Maharashtrian culture in the United States.

Story Outline : The concept of the film and its story is based over the emotions of a postman visiting a remote rural village and a school-going boy called Rangya. During earlier times there were hardly a few educated individuals in any village such as a teacher, Patwari and a postman. They were therefore worthy of honour and respect in the village. It is with this thread of the bonding between villagers and the postman that makes up the story of Tapaal.

Tapaal will release all over Maharashtra on September 26th. Noted Bollywood Cinematographer Laxman Utekar who has done cinematography for popular Hindi films like English-vinglish, Boss, Blue has made a debut as a director through TAPAAL.

The film has already created raves in various film festivals and received many prestigious awards before release. The world premiere of Tapaal was held at Busan International Film festival in South Korea. The film received a good response from the audience at the film festival. Noted actress Veena Jamkar was felicitated with coveted IFSA award in South Africa for her role of Tulsa. Child artist Rohit Utekar was felicitated with the best child artist award for his role of Rangya, in Tapal, in the 51th Maharashtra state Marathi films awards ceremony and lyricist Prakash Holkar was honoured with the best lyricist award for the song ‘Don Disanchi Savali’,in Tapaal.

The film is based on the backdrop 0f 1970’s and it will take the audience to the era of Tapaal. The film has beautifully woven various elements like Innocence, emotional bond between the relationships and human values together. The story which revolves around the incident which takes place in the life of Postman Devram, his wife Tulja and a small kid named Rangya and how the two days make an impact on their lives manages to engage the audience.

While talking about the film, producer Varsha Satpalkar said, “We have not entered into this field to make commercial movies which will make money. Maitreya Mass Media has decided to make films which will have a meaningful story as well as social message. That was the reason they made Tapaal as their debut film. The young generation doesn’t know the joy one gets when the postman brings the Tapaal at home. They can get the same joy after watching the film. We really like the story written by Mangesh which not only entertains the audience but conveys a social message as well. That was how we decided to make it as a debut film.”

Director Laxman Utekar said, “Marathi film has been drastically changed in the last 10 years and our team has tried to carry the awareness of the change through Tapaal.” They further added, “Both quality as well commercial films are being made in the Marathi film industry and a film like Tapaal is bridging the gap between the two genres.”
Actors Veena Jamkar, Urmila Kanetkar, Ganga Gogawale, Jayant Wadkar, child artist Rohit Uttekar are portraying main roles in the film and Milind Gunaji will be seen in a special role. The songs of the film are written by Laxman Utekar and music is composed by Rohit Nagbhide.Choreography is done by Phulwa Khamkar and editing is done by K.D. Dilip. Along with direction and writing the dialogues Laxman Utekar has also done the cinematography of the film.Ashwini Shrivastav has done the art direction of the film. Noted singers Swapnil Bandodkar, Bela Shende, Vaishali Samant, Adarsh Shinde have rendered the songs in the film.

Tapaal, a movie produced by Maitrey Mass Media has won three awards in different categories. These awards were presented in a recently held function. Rohit Utekar was presented Best Child Actor by Arun Nalavade, and Prakash Holkar was awarded best lyricist by Dilip Prabhavalkar for Don Disaanchee Saavalee. The film is directed by Laxman Utekar.

The film has already been showcased in nine film festivals like IFFI, Third Eye Asian Film festival, and Pune International Film Festival. Veena Jamkar has already won a prestigious IFSA Award from South Africa for her character of Tulsa in this film.
