Taleem Marathi Movie Review :

‘Like how Kushti is Maharashtra’s pride, Lavani is Maharashtra’s heart’, this adage is repeated a couple of times in the film Taleem. The intent here is to make a film about these two pillars of cultural heritage of Maharashtra. The basic premise is interesting, but the melodramatic approach by the director wastes whatever little dramatic potential the film has.

The film begins with us seeing a wrestler being killed in an arena. Next we see a kid being chased around the village by a bunch of bullies. Getting impressed by the never say die attitude of the kid, the wrestling coach of the village inducts him into his training arena much against his mother’s wishes. This is the same coach whose wrestler had died during a fight. We then witness the growth of the kid Bhavdya into a competent wrestler destined to make the whole village proud. But then comes a dancing troupe of the lavani kind in the village and our protagonists is smitten by the star dancer of the troupe.

Taleem had enough opportunity to become an absorbing account of the inner workings of the world of Kushti. The rustic sport requires dedication from a tender age and is widely followed by people in the rural areas. We do get to see glimpses of the world of wrestling with all its rivalry attached, but, rather sadly, the director seems to have a thing for melodrama. There is a jarring background score that plays in every other scene, making the film rather difficult to sit through. This is not to say that the screenplay is without clichés like the protagonist actually turning out to be an adopted son, but the loud treatment given to the material at hand is the major undoing of the film.

The lead actor Abhijeet Shwetchandra does look the part, but his acting potential is quite limited. The wrestling scenes are decently shot, but do get a little repetitive after a while. Mitali Jagtap who plays the lead actor’s mother makes the best impression and the few scenes she gets are the better parts of the film.

Overall:

The film does have noble intentions but the loud melodramatic approach does injustice to the subject and the intent.

Taleem, a film about Kusti will be releasing on 5th August all over Maharashtra. Nitin Rokde who has edited many Hindi blockbusters will be directing this film and it stars Abhijeet Shwetchandra, Vaishali Dabhade, Mitali Jagtap, Vishni Joshilkar, Chhaya Kadam, Prashant Mohite, Yashpal Sarnath and Arjun in lead roles.

Taleem is produced by Sudarshan Ingle, Sanjay Mule, Jay Aditya Giri and Nitin Rokde under the banners of Raghujan Films, Roaring Goat Media and NMR Movies.

While speaking about this film Rokde said, “The younger generation knows only about wrestling on the mats. However, Marathi traditional wrestling- Kusti is played on the sand and it is the main focus of our film. The locations of this film are very unique and will be seen for the first time on the screen. We have shot this film at Bhor, Junnar and Sangli where the game is still very popular.”

Rokde has also written the story screenplay of the film while dialogues have been penned by Sikandar Sayyad and Abhijeet Kulkarni. The DoP is Farukh Khan and music has been composed by Prafull Karlekar. Mandar Cholkar has written the lyrics and Adarsh Shinde, Tarannum Malik, Ronkani Gupta, Swapnil Godbole, Divya Kumar, Kalpana Potwari, Anandi Joshi, Farhad Bhiwandiwala, and Abhiroop have given playback for the songs.
The film will be releasing on the 5 August all over Maharashtra.

Taleem is the second film in the recent past in Marathi cinema that is based on wrestling. Kushti is a sport with a long tradition in India and has been played for ages. We last year had Bhaurao Karhade’s Khwada based on wrestling which had won a National Award. Taleem, though, seems like a film from the other end of the spectrum from Khwada.

Taleem trailer does have some impressive visuals of wrestling matches. The lead actor does look like a wrestler himself and that goes a long way in establishing character. Though wrestling is an integral part of the film, the film seems to tackle the human emotions of love, hatred, betrayal and redemption through it. It also adopts the conventional format of song and dance sequences with the mandatory lavani.

Taleem has been written and directed by Nitin Madhukar Rokade and stars Abhijeet Shwetchandra and Vaishali Dabade in the lead role. It has been produced by Sudarshan Ingale, Sanjay Mulay, Jayaditya Giri and Nitin Madhukar Rokade

The film is slated to release on July 15th, 2016.

David Dhawan launched the music of the wrestling film Taleem Kushti or wrestling seems to be a sport that has caught the attention of filmmakers these days. After the national award winning Khwada last year, kushti features prominently in the big Eid release Sultan. Another Marathi film that has kushti in it is the upcoming Taleem. The music of Taleem was launched recently at the Orchid Hotel in Mumbai by the veteran Hindi director David Dhawan.

Taleem directed by Nitin Madhukar Rokade will put across all the pros and cons of the ancient sport. Nitin Madhukar Rokade has edited several Hindi films before and this is his directorial debut. There are 5 songs composed for the film by Praful Karlekar and the lyrics have been penned by the renowned lyricist Mandar Cholkar. The album has a wide range of songs from a raunchy lavni called Ishqacha Baan Sutla sung by Ronkani Gupta and Swapnil Godbole to the pathos ridden Kal Na Yo Kal Na. Popular singer Adarsh Shinde has lent his voice to the title track Taleem Rangu De along with Tarannum Malik. There is also a romantic duet sung by Anandi Joshi and Farhad Bhiwandiwala and the fun song Be Eke Be sung by Abhiroop and Swapnil Godbole.

On the occasion of the Music Launch the director Nitin Madhukar Rokade said that songs have been seamlessly woven into the film and are not incorporated just as fillers.

The cast and crew along with several other personalities from Marathi and Hindi cinema were present at the event. The film Taleem stars Abhijeet Shwetchandra, Vaishali Dabhade, Mitali Jagtap, Vishnu Joshilkar, Prashant Mohite, Yashpal Sarnath, Arjun and Chaya Kadam. Well Done Bhalya Marathi Movie Review:

Cricket is a game that the British invented and the Indians mastered, they say. A hangover of the colonial British era, this sport isn’t merely a ‘sport’ in our country. Such is the passion with which it is followed that many people consider it to be their religion. Another countrywide passion of us Indians is cinema. We are a cricket and cinema crazy nation. However, a sports film about cricket is still a rarity. And a good sports film at that even more so. Lagaan and Iqbal are the two that immediately come to mind as successful cricket films. There have been a few other cricket films but none as good as the ones mentioned before. Well Done Bhalya joins the list of those ordinary cricket films who despite being about something the people of our country passionately love, ends up being rather drab and boring.

What you can’t fault the film is for having noble intentions. It takes up the issue of the tribals – the original inhabitants of our country who have been marginalized and exploited for centuries together. Bhalya (Solkar) son of Shukrya (Sanjay Narvekar) is just interested in the game of cricket while his father wants him to take an education help him escape the miseries of the tribal communities to which they belong. Now, every sports film has a conflict between the bully and the bullied. Shukra and Bhalya are quite obviously the bullied, while the local MLA and his son are bullies. The local MLA harbors a hatred for the tribals, for some reason, and his son is part is already part of the cricket. Bhalya plays the sport well, but there is the big issue of giving him training so that he can be a part of the local cricket team, much against the wishes of the Gajabhau, the local MLA.

Though the film has a decent enough plot, the screenplay meanders. The very basic for a sports film is to grip its viewers with the graph of the story. This doesn’t happen with the film. It all feels very bland and boring. The film suffers from lack of detailing and simplification.

In the acting department too, apart from Sanjay Narvekar, none of the actors make any mark. It also doesn’t help that apart from his role of Shukrya there is hardly any other character that is properly developed.

Overall:

A misfired attempt at making a cricket film. It is dull and boring, the worst for a sports film.

In this adverse condition Bhalya continues his love towards cricket. Gradually the cricket
club of Pali noticed Bhalya’s passion for cricket Because of his batting they all come very close to Bhalya. Ignoring all the rules of their club they started to train Bhalya. But the founder of club and MLA Shri Gajabhao dosen’t agree this as he has two obstacle in this political career and his son’s cricket career are Bhaly’s cricket and the other is tribal people and Shukrya has to listen a lot from Gajabhao and when when he comes to know that Bhaly’s cricket is the main reason behind Gajbhao’s anger and that’s only rich society notice BHaly’s tribe, he decides to support Bhalya. So there clashes between two father.

In the pali cricket club Bhaly’s has to face malice who is Gajabhao son. But to see
Bhalya’s batting other players in the club decide to make (by hiding his iddentiey) Bhalya play under 16 team even though he is not a member of the club. In this match Bhalya’s great batting wins the match in very difficult situation.
