Kanika, a horror film will be releasing on 31 March all over Maharashtra. The film speaks about female feticide and deals with this issue in a different way. The film stars Sharad Ponkshe, Smita Shewale, Chaitrali Gupte, Kamlakar Satpute, Ananda Karekar, Falguni Rajni. The film is directed by debutant Pushkar Mahohar. The film is produced by Sandeep Manohar under the banners of seven Wonders Motion Pictures. The film does not have any song. The film is edited by Kuldeep Mehan.

Kanika has used large amount of special effects and new technologies as the subject was about horror. The makers of the film says that they has not used such effects to create horror, but to make it more realistic. The film also deals with an important social issue like female feticide.

The music launch of the film Shinma was held recently at the hands of the renowned choreographer of Bollywood Ganesh Acharya in the presence of well known celebrities in Marathi Cinema, besides the cast and crew of the film. The film is directed by Milind Kavde and stars Ajinkya Deo and Kishori Shahane in lead roles.

There are five songs in the film, each sung in a different style, adhering to different moods. While Varun Likhate has composed four songs, one has been composed by Rohan-Rohan. Anand Shinde of Majha Naveen Popat has sing with Kavita Nikam the popular and catchy number Tujhi Chimni Udali Burra, written by Jay Atre. Jay has also written the song Asa Kasa which has been sung by Deepali Sathe and Rohit Raut. The song Chakachak Chanderi Duniya written by Jay is heard not just once but twice in the film. While the first one has been sung by Manish Rajgire, the second has been sung by composer Varun Likhte himself. The song Kalla Jhala has been composed by the composer duo Rohan-Rohan. Rahul Salve and Sagar Wankhede have written the song sung by Adarsh Shinde in his usual inimitable style.

Punjabi actress Gurleen Chopra and Bollywood choreographer Ganesh Acharya will be seen together in a sizzling item number for Shinma. The song is called Chimani Udali and has been choreographed by Ganesh himself. This is his first Marathi song as a dancer.

Ganesh said that, “I have done many Marathi songs as choreographer. Even I can speak fluent Marathi. I wanted to do something like Chimani, not only as a choreographer, but as a dancer. Gurleen Chopra has earlier done some Telugu and Hindi item numbers.
The playback is by Anand Shinde and Kavita Nikam, music has been given by Varun Likhate and lyrics by Jay Atre.

The film is directed by Milind Kawde and produced by Anil Joshi. Kavde has earlier delivered hits like Yedyanche Jatra, Four Idiots, and Just Gammat. As the title suggests, the story of the film revolves around a film director who comes to village for making a film and how his entire life changes.
