Story Outline:

Time Please – Love Story Lagnanantarchi focuses on the life of a married couple Amruta (Priya Bapat) and Hrishikesh (Umesh Kamat). While Amruta is lively and aggressive, Hrishi is completely the opposite. At times, Hrishi struggles to control her openness and enthusiasm. Their story takes a twist when Amruta’s childhood friend Himmatrao (Siddharth Jadhav) and Hrishi’s colleague Radhika (Sai Tamhankar) enter the scene. The film is adapted from Sameer Vidwans Marathi play Nava Gadi Nava Rajya.

Review:

There have been umpteen numbers of films exploring a troubled marriage. However, this thought would hardly cross your mind while watching debut-ant Sameer Vidwans’ Time Please due to the fresh take on the subject. The film succeeds in highlighting the real issues a married couple faces in today’s time in a mature manner.

It is the writing and presentation that makes sure the film doesn’t fall into the run-of-the-mill category. Not only does the story starts moving right during the opening credits, the characters are also established in a way that you connect with them instantly. In other words, there is just no dull moment in the first half, for which the witty humour is largely responsible.

It is highly possible for such genre of films to suffer from the second half syndrome. Fortunately, nothing of that sort happens here. The post-interval portion also succeeds in keeping your engrossed and interested. The noteworthy part here is to see a bold twist being presented in a mature and sensible manner. And lastly, although the climax is anybody’s guess, it deserves praise for deriving at a conclusion in an interesting manner.

The only negative point, if one tries to find, is the predictable plot throughout. Apart from this, the level of craziness displayed by Amruta and Himmatrao could have been reduced in some portions. These, however, aren’t any major flaws.

The music by Hrishikesh Kamerkar is used only when required and rightly so. The energetic number ‘Butterfly Man’ refuses to leave your thought process. Rest of the songs like ‘Nava Gadi An Nava Rajya’, ‘Aas Tu’ and ‘Kadhi Na Kadhi’ are impressive too. The technical departments (cinematography, background score and editing) also fall in the thumbs up category.

The performances of all four main actors play a large role in creating the desired effect. Priya Bapat is outstanding as a crazy, hyper young woman. She also scores high during the emotional scenes. Umesh Kamat also deserves huge praise for showing such high degree of maturity while playing a character completely opposite to that of Bapat’s.

Siddharth Jadhav is simply lovable as Himmatrao. Although we have seen him display such craziness before, you just can’t help but feel amused during his every antic. Sai Tamhankar is outstanding in a very unusual role of a troubled woman. She gets to display her talent perfectly. The rest of the actors too provide decent support.

Overall, Time Please – Love Story Lagnanantarchi surely deserves a watch. With Duniyadari still doing very well and a whole lot of Hindi movies being released, the film requires rapid word of mouth.

Plot Outline :
Amruta is a bubbly girl of 24 who’s married to Hrishi, a relatively mature man at 30.

She’s lively, while he is composed. She’s loud, he’s subtle. Just after marriage they start to discover the differences between their liking’s, expressions and views.

The real drama starts when Hrishi’s colleague Radhika and Amruta’s childhood buddy Himmatrao come into the picture and with it the game of love, care, transparency, and insecurities start.

How does the couple react under this phase? What do they lose and discover? What do they really understand through these misunderstandings? How do some small moments of truth, faith, anger and realization make huge differences to any relationship?
