12th of June is remembered as a sad day in Maharashtra’s history. Today is the day when Maharashtra’s most celebrated cultural icon, the great writer-actor-humorist-musician-playwright-director & more importantly a great human being Pu La Deshpande left this world. Yesterday the announcement of a Pu La Deshpande biopic was made at an event in Worli, Mumbai!

While the names of the artists & actors associated with the film were kept under wraps before the event, the news was disclosed at the event slowly! The film is a joint venture between Great Maratha Entertainment, Mahesh Manjrekar Movies & Phalke’s Factory & is to be directed by Mahesh Manjrekar. The film was officially announced by MNS Chief Raj Thackeray who was present at the event as the guest of honor.

Mahesh Manjrekar revealed the entire team of the film starting from the writers; senior writer Ratnakar Matkari as the dialogue writer, Ratnakar Matkari’s son film critic & writer Ganesh Matkari as the screenplay writer & music director Ajit Parab. While the lead cast of the film was also revealed at the event in the same get up of the characters they would portray in the film.

Actor Sagar Deshmukh (known for his lead performance in ‘YZ’) will be portraying Pu La Deshpande in the film! And he looked perfect for the part in that get up designed by the popular makeup artist Vikram Gaikwad. The role of Sunita Deshpande wife of Pu La, is being played by the ‘Aapla Manus’ fame actress Iravati Harshe! She too looked perfect in her part. The rest of the cast includes Sachin Khedekar, Sagar Karande, Deepti Lele, Pravin Tarde, Sarang Sathaye, Vidyadhar Joshi, Chittaranjan Giri, Ashwini Giri, Padmanabh Bind, Ajay Purkar & others.

Senior writer Ratnakar Matkari & Raj Thackeray both talked about their memories connected to Pu La & how they felt blessed to have known him & met him in person. For all the Pu La fans this film promises to give us a new perspective about Pu La the human being more than the writer he was or the characters he created as this film will be focusing on his actual life unknown to many!

In his unique style Raj Saheb brought life into the launch event & appreciated the music composers of ‘FU’.

‘FU’ is produced by ‘Cut to Cut Production’, ‘T – Series’, Mahesh Manjrekar, Abhay Gadgil, Mahesh Patel & Dinesh Kirodia. The songs of ‘Friends Unlimited (FU)‘ are composed by young composers Vishal Mishra & Samir Saptiskar. These songs represent the flavor of today’s youth. 14 different songs of different genres are sung by popular singers Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghoshal, Avdhoot Gupte, Prajakta Shukre, Benny Dayal, Sukhwinder Singh, Neeti Mohan & Jonita Gandhi. Moreover Salman Khan’s friend Iulia Vantur has sung a song in ‘FU’.

The film stars a brigade of young actors along with Sairat star Akash Thosar they include Satya Manjrekar, Vaidehi Parshurami, Sanskruti Balgude, Madhav Deochakke, Mayuresh Pem & other young actors. ‘FU’ is all set to hit the theatres & influence the youth of Maharashtra from 2nd June.

Abhijeet Panse is back with another film called Ulagaddi after his cult film Rege. The Muhurt for this film was performed recetny at Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari. Entire cast and crew along with Raj Thackeray, Mahesh Manjrekar, Jaywant Wadkar were present for this event.

The film will be shot by famous cinematographer Ravi Varman who has earlier done films like Dashavataram, Ram Leela, Barfi. Art direction has been done by Saloni Dhatrak who has recently completed Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani. The film is produced by Shipla Raut, Sandeep Raut and Abhijeet Panse.

The announcement of the 6th Colors Micta Awards was done in a glittering event in Mumbai. The Awards week will take place in Australia during 26th January to 31 January. Also, the Garv Maharashtracha Award has been announced to Dr. D Y Patil.

The awards have been taking place in various countries like Dubai, London, Singapore and Macau for the past five years. From this year onwards Medha Manjrekar and Deepa Gadgil will be organisers for this awards ceremony. Mahesh Manjrekar will be supervising the event progress, though he will not be actively participating in it.

Gajendra Ahire has also written the story, screenplay and dialogues and the lyrics which have been tuned by famed composers Ajay Atul. The DOP is Krishna Soren and editor is Ballu Saluja.

Akshar Films PVT LTD’s ‘Neelkanth Master’ produced by Meghmala Balbhim Pathare released its music recently. The film is directed by Gajendra Ahire.

Sensational music composers Ajay Atul have scored the popular music of the film according to the era the film has been set in. The lyrics of the film are penned by Gajendra Ahire himself and many celebrated artistes from Hindi and Marathi film industry have worked on the film.

There are five songs in the film. One of them is Vande Mataram… has been sung by eighteen singers and also there is a romantic ballad Aadhir Maan Jhale by Shreya Ghoshal. Kaunse Desh Chala song signifies the struggle of a freedom fighter sung by Ajay Gogavale and Shreya Ghoshal.. Anandi Joshi and Aditya Modak have hummed a few lines in the background score.

The film star cast includes Vikhram Gokhale, Kishore Kadam, Adinath Kothare, Omkar Govardhan, Neha Mahajan, Pooja Sawant, Pradip Velankar, Amita Kopkar, Rahul solapurkar, Mangesh Desai… Krishna Soren has done the cinematography of the film and it is edited by Ballu Saluja.

The first look and the music of this Nishikant Kamat directed movie was unveiled at a glittering function held in Mumbai by Raj Thackeray and his wife Sharmila. Entire cast and crew of this movie was present for this event. The film will be released on 11 July.

After creating an impression in Bollywood, Riteish ventured successfully into Marathi film Industry as a producer. Now for the first time, he will be seen as dashing Marathi boy in his first Marathi film. The film has been directed by NishikantKamat, who has already delivered blockbusters like Mumbai Meri Jaan, Dombivali Fast and Force. Various actors like Tanvi Azmi, Radhika Apte, Uday Tikekar, Sharad Kelkar, Sanjay Khapre and Aditi Pohankar will be seen in this film.

The movie is presented by Zee Talkies and produced by Cinemantra Production and Mumbai Film Company. Jitendra Thackeray, Amey Khopkar and Genelia Deshmukh are the producers. The story of Lai Bhaari has been written by eminent Bollywood producer Sajid Nadiadwala, Screenplay by Ritesh Shaha and dialogues by Sanjay Pawar.
