Marathi cinema and theatre have consistently made a name for themselves abroad in the recent past. Special screenings of films have been arranged and a number of Marathi plays have gone on foreign tours. Marathi films have been making a splash at reputed international film festivals as well. Now, with international recognition the Marathi artists from film and theatre need to be appreciated at the international level as well. So with this purpose a Marathi award ceremony is being organised for a few years now. This year a dazzling ceremony with the name Marathi Achievers and Awards International (MAAI) was held in Sydney, Australia this year. The award show full of stunning performances will be telecast on Zee Marathi on 19th June at 7 pm.

A number of Marathi stars from the theatre and film industry were present at the award show. They gave a number of stunning performances. Avdhoot Gupte, Bela Shende and Swapnil Bandodkar won the hearts of the Marathi public of Sydney with their expert singing, while Ketaki Mategoankar, Sachin Pilgaonkar also impressed one and all. Even Jitendra Joshi gave a glimpse of his singing talent. The dance of Chandrakant Kulkarni, Rahul Ranade, Sunil Barve, Ajit Parab, Sachin Khedekar, Puhskar Shortri and Sachin Pilgaonkar to the song ‘pyaar hame kis mod pe le aaya’ was receiving with a rousing applause by the audience.

The major attraction of the night was the award ‘Gaurav Maharashtracha’. The award is given to a person with Marathi roots whose work has been recognized and appreciated all over the world. This year all-time great cricketer Sunil Gavaskar was presented with the award. Pushkar Shrotri, Vandana Gupte and Dr. Mahesh Patwardhan had a freewheeling chat with the original little master on the occasion.

The incredible team of ‘Chala Hawa Yeu Dya’ had the people of Sydney in splits with their performance. They performed a skit which portrayed the hilarity in the situation wherein the villagers of Thukratwadi are for the very first time taking a plane for a trip abroad to Sydney. The very popular program was even awarded with a ‘Shahir Dada Kondke’ award on the occasion. Actors Swapnil Joshi and Saie Tamhankar were the hosts for the night.

All in all, this joyous celebration of Marathi entertainment in a foreign land would make any marathi manoos proud. It will be telecasted on Sunday, 19th June at 7pm on Zee Marathi.

Salim Khan, one of the most respected writers in Hindi film industry was given an honour as “Garv Maharashtracha” in a recently held MICTA awards in Dubai. The ceremony also awarded best talents in Marathi film industry and theatre. The event was held in Dubai from 18 to 22 February.

Salim Khan, who paired with Javed Akhtar to pen some super hit like Sholay and Don said that this was infact a proud moment for him. His simple yet elegant made speech made everyone emotional. This year onwards, Zenda Rovila award will be given to the Marathi NRIs who have achieved exceptional success in their field. This year famous architect Ashok Korgaonak was awarded for this category.

The star-studded event witnessed some spectacular dance performances and funny skits. The best film award was given to Rege. Rege also won several awards for Screenplay-direction- Abhijeet Panse, Dialogues Praveen Tarade, Cinematography- Mahesh Limaye, Art direction- Santosh Futane.

Kishor Kadam was given best supporting actor for Fandry while Riteish Deshmukh collected the trophy for best actor for his double role in Lai Bhari. Iravati Harshe won award for best actress for her role in Astu. Somnath Avaghade and Suraj Pawar won Best Child actor. Other award winners are: Mohan Agashe for best supporting actor (Astu), Best Supporting actress – Amruta Subhash (Astu), Lai Bhari also won award for best Music (Ajay Atul)

In the theatre category Mr and Mrs became the best award winner. Zopala won best Jury Award and Gosht Tashee gamateechee won viewer’s choice award. Priayadarshan Jadhav (Direction), Chinmay Mandlekar (Actor) and Madhura Velankar (Best Actress) were awarded for Mr and Mrs. Best Supporting actor was given to Shashank Ketkar for Gosht Tashe gamateechee and Aishwarya Narkar was awarded as Amhi Sau Kumud Prabhakar Apte.

MICTA 2014 (Marathi International Cinema and Theatre Awards) announced their nominations for various categories. Rege and Astu have received 10 nominations each. Fandry and Lai Bhaari are also giving touch competition with 8 nominations each. Rege and Astu have bagged nomination in all the significant categories like Best Film, Director, Story, Screenplay and Dialogues. In the theatre category “Aamhe Sau Kumud Prabhakar Apte” and Mr and Mrs have received 7 nominations each. Lai Bhaari has already been announced as a “Best Popular film”.

The nominations were announced recently at Dr. Kashinath Ghanekar Hall at Thane recently. For this event, Mahesh Manjrekar, Nitesh Rane, Sudhakar Chavan, Chandrakant Kulkarni, Rahul Ranade were present. The nominations for theatre category were announced by Sunil Barve while Sachin Khedekar announced nominations for Films. The award ceremony will be held at London and Wales around November end.

Best actress: Madhura Velankar (Mr and Mrs), Leena Bhagwat (Gosht Tashee Gamateechee), Prateeksha Lonkar (Amhee Sau Kumud Prabhakar Apte). Special Jury Award has been announced for Jhopala. Vyakti ani Valli will be awarded by Best revived Drama.

During this announcement event, all the actors like Vaibhav Mangle, Siddharth Jadhav, Ketaki Mategaonkar, Dr. Mahesh Patwardhan sang their favorite songs. This was a present surprise for the audience.

मराठी चित्रपट आणि नाटकांना आंतरराष्ट्रीय पातळीवर ग्लोबल ओळख मिळवून देणारा ‘म्हैसकर मिक्ता’ पुरस्कार यंदा मकाऊ येथे रंगणार आहे. या पुरस्काराचे पूर्वरंग मांडणारा ‘मिक्ता महोत्सव 2013’ची मोठया दिमाखात पुण्यामध्ये सुरूवात झाली आहे. 1 ते 7 सप्टेंबर दरम्यान रंगणा-या या महोत्सवात निवडक मराठी चित्रपट आणि नाटकांसोबतच विविध सांस्कृतिक सोहळयाची अनोखी मेजवानी रसिक पे्रक्षकांना सध्या अनुभवायला मिळत आहे. पुण्यातील कोथरूड येथील यशवंतराव चव्हाण नाटयगृहात ‘मिक्ता’ नाटयमहोत्सव भरला असून ‘मिक्ता’ चित्रपट महोत्सवाचे आयोजन सिटी प्राईड कोथरूड येथे करण्यात आले आहे.

‘महाराष्ट्र कलानिधी’ आणि ‘म्हैसकर फाऊंडेशन’चे मुख्य प्रायोजकत्व लाभलेल्या या सोहळयाची संकल्पना महेश मांजरेकर यांची आहे. रविवारपासून सुरू झालेल्या मिक्ता महोत्सवात मान्यवर परिक्षक आणि पे्रक्षकांनी निवडलेल्या दहा चित्रपट आणि दहा नाटकांचा आस्वाद रसिक घेत आहेत. या महोत्सवामध्ये ‘प्रपोजल’, ‘गेट वेल
सून’,‘ठष्ट’, ‘डू अँड मी ’, ‘एकदा पहावं न करन’, ‘फॅमिली ड्रामा’, ‘सुखान्त’, ‘ड्राय डे’,‘उणे पुरे शहर एक’, ‘ती गेली तेव्हा’ या नाटकांचा समावेश असून चित्रपटांमध्ये ‘दुनियादारी’, ‘टाइम प्लीज’, ‘आजचा दिवस माझा’, ‘72 मैल एक प्रवास’,‘ बालक पालक’, ‘ प्रेमाची गोष्ट’, ‘इन्व्हेस्टमेण्ट’, ‘अनुमती’, ‘आयना का बायना’, ‘धग’ यासारखे गाजलेले चित्रपट पुणेकरांना महोत्सवात पहाता येणार आहे. यासोबतच मिक्ता महोत्सवाच्या माध्यमातून विविधरंगी कार्यक्रमांचा नजराणाही प्रेक्षकांना मिळत आहे.

या मिक्ता महोत्सवाची सांगता येत्या 8 सप्टेंबरला होणार असून या दिवशी पुण्यामध्ये मराठी कलावंत आणि तंत्रज्ञांची दिंडी सकाळी 10.30 वा. पुण्यातील पौड फाटा रोडवरील दशभुजा गणपती मंदिर ते यशवंतराव चव्हाण नाटयगृह अशी निघणार आहे. या दिंडीमध्ये चित्रपटसृष्टीतील अनेक मान्यवर कलाकार सहभागी होणार आहेत.

मराठी चित्रपट व नाटयसृष्टीला आंतरराष्ट्रीय पातळीवर ओळख मिळवून देणारा मानाचा सोहळा म्हणजे म्हैसकर ‘मिक्ता’ पुरस्कार सोहळा. दरवर्षा परदेशात आयोजित होणा-या या पुरस्कार सोहळ्याचे हे चौथे वर्ष आहे. ‘महाराष्ट्र कलानिधी’ प्रस्तुत म्हैसकर ‘मिक्ता’ म्हणजेच ‘मराठी इंटरननॅशनल सिनेमा अँड थिएटर अवार्डस्’ सोहळ्याचे आयोजन यंदाही अभिनेता – दिग्दर्शक महेश मांजरेकर यांच्या संकल्पनेतून होत आहे.

दरवर्षाप्रमाणे परदेशातील मुख्य सोहळ्याआधी ‘मिक्ता’ नाटक आणि चित्रपट महोत्सवाचे आयोजन करण्यात आले असून यंदा प्रथमच हा महोत्सव पुण्यात आयोजित होत आहे. 1 ते 7 सप्टेंबर दरम्यान आयोजित होणा-या महोत्सवासाठी प्राथमिक फेरीत निवडण्यात आलेल्या 10 नाटकांची आणि 10 चित्रपटांची नावे नुकतीच जाहीर करण्यात आली आहेत. पुण्यातील कोथरड येथील यशवंतराव चव्हाण नाटयगृहात ‘मिक्ता’ नाटय महोत्सव रंगणार असून ‘मिक्ता’ चित्रपट महोत्सवाचे आयोजन सिटी प्राईड कोथरड येथे करण्यात आले आहे.

‘म्हैसकर फाऊंडेशन’ आणि ‘महाराष्ट्र कलानिधी’ यांच्या संयुक्त विद्यमाने या महोत्सवाचे आयोजन करण्यात आले आहे. या महोत्सवामध्ये जास्तीत जास्त प्रेक्षकांनी सहभागी होऊन त्याचा आस्वाद घ्यावा असे आवाहन आयोजकांतर्फे करण्यात आले आहे.
