After being a successful star, what made you venture into direction?

By nature I am a very creative person and always looking out for something creative to do and so I had this idea in mind which I converted into a short film but in the process realized that the film had potential to be made into a full length feature film and luckily I got a good producer and I ventured into making ‘Kaakan‘ and the results will be out soon.

What is the film all about?

It’s a tragic love story on the theme akin to ‘Ek Duuje Ke Liye’ which is my favorite film and tragic love stories have always fascinated me and there is also a 12 year old boy who is akin to the lead protagonist in the film.

How did you cast for the film?

For the leading lady, I wanted a very Indian face and one who could dance well and Urmila Kanetkar fitted the bill perfectly and Jitendra Joshi was the perfect actor for a middle class lover and so I cast him for the film.

Are you acting in the film?

No.It’s a difficult job to be behind the camera and act as well and therefore I refrained from acting in the film.

Why the title ‘Kaakan‘?

Kaakan means Bangles and is a representation of how the life cycle starts from some where and moves round and round in circles till it reaches it’s destination.

What about the films music?

The film has music by a newcomer and we have songs of all genres right from a Sufi song to romantic numbers sung by the likes of Shankar Mahadevan and his son, Hariharan, Sonu Nigam and other top singers.

What next?

I have planned two films which I will be directing. And also my Marathi films as an actress are about to release like ‘Yudh’, ‘Murder Mestri’, and a few others.

Also, Vishakha Subhedar returns to silver screen in her usual comic avatar in Saasuche swayamvar. Omkar Mane has directed this comic movie and also stars Pushkar Jog, Vijay Chavan, Teja Devkar, Sunil Pal, Jaywant Wadkar and Satish Tare.

Court, one of the most powerful and realistic film also releasing on 17 April in India. Chaitanya Tamhane directed this film has won National award & more than 17 awards in various international film festivals. The film has been praised by critics and hopes to generate enough attention at the box office as well.

“What About Savarkar” is also ready for release on 17th April. This film is about ideologies of Swaantryaveer Savarkar and his ardent follower. The film revolves around how a single youth can create a revolution with the Savarkar’s philosophy. The film is jointly directed by Rupesh Katare and Nitin Gawde..

Kaakan, the directorial debut of Kranti Redkar launched its music at the party on Wednesday evening in the presence of the entire Kaakan music team and industry dignitaries. The music for this film has been given by Ajay Singha.

Kranti has also  written two songs ‘Suki Poli…’ sung by Shriram Iyer and ‘Saajana…’ sung by Hamsika Iyer co-written with Omkar Mangesh Datt for this film.

The track ‘Kaakan…’ is sung by the renowned Shankar Mahadevan and Neha Rajpal. The other two songs ‘Gopi Dada…’ is sung by Shriram Iyer and ‘Wedyanche Ghar Unhaat…’ is sung by Swapnil Bandodkar.

Kaakan (bangle) revolves around a tragic love story of a young couple in 1970s that separated due to circumstances and whether they unite at their later age of life is only for the audience to see. The movie is beautiful and balanced journey of past and present timeline majorly shot in Konkan.

On the launch, Director Kranti Redkar said, “I’m excited to see the response from the audience from all generation after listening to these songs. The entire team including my singers and music director have understood the mood of the songs and then expressed. I love writing and I hope the way I’ve been enjoying these songs from past few weeks, audience would love them too.”

The film stars Jitendra Joshi, Urmila Kanetkar Kothare, Madhavi Juvekar-Kulkarni, Aashok Shinde and child actors Ashitosh Gaikwad and Aakash Banerjee.

Kranti Redkar, mostly known for her acting has decided to venture into direction. Her debut film “Kaakan” is ready for release on 10th April. The film stars Jitendra Joshi and Urmila Kanetkar.

The film is set in 1970s and essentially a love-story but with a twist. The first look and trailer of the film has already receiving fabulous response on various social media. The title track “Kakan” sung by Shankar Mahadevan and Neha Rajpal is already becoming a chartbuster.
