Hemant Dhome directorial ‘Satarcha Salman‘ has been talked about ever since the announcement of the film for it’s unique and catchy title! The film stars Suyog Gorhe in the lead titular role and while Suyog has been part of good, bad and average films in the recent times, this film seems really important in his career.

Suyog Gorhe plays a young boy from rural village in Maharashtra and has big dreams! What exactly are these dreams and how are they connected to him being ‘a hero’ or that too ‘Salman’ in particular is currently a mystery. Hemant Dhome is yet to make a really entertaining film as a director, but ‘Satarcha Salman’ definitely looks promising!

The voice-over narration in the teaser is done by Amey Wagh in his unique interesting way. ‘Satarcha Salman’ has also highlighted the roots of the people part of the film for example producer Prakash Sindhi coming from ‘Bikaner’, director Hemant Dhome coming from ‘Pimparkhed’ and so on! Whether the ‘home town’ backdrop would have any real importance in the film’s story or it’s just one marketing gimmick is to be seen!

• The first ‘Ye Re Ye Re Paisa’ was a hit, did that bring exert pressure on you?

• Is this a proper sequel? Or a spin off using characters from the first film? 

• Tell us about your experience of working with such a huge star cast. 

It was a lot of fun. Every artist has a different sense of comedy, and different comic timing! Every one has different strengths and all of it lead to many layers in the narrative! Moreover all of these artists are a friend of mine, hence our shoot was fun and enjoyable.

• The music of the film has clicked with the audiences. Tell us about the recreation of ‘Ashwini Ye Na’ and about the overall album of the film!

We have experimented a lot in the music. Keeping aside typical sound we have tried to push the boundary. Troy and Arif have done fabulous job, including the background score. I am glad that the audiences have appreciated and loved the recreation of ‘Ashwini Ye Na’! ‘Un Dos Tres’ is a Spanish song that has also worked well and is making everyone dance! Title song of the film is sung by Mika Singh and writer-lyricist Kshitij Patwardhan has written two fun song! We are satisfied to see the great response from the audiences.

• What do you think is essential for a Marathi film to be successful? 

There’s no formula for a successful Marathi film! If the film connects with the audiences I think it is successful! That connection is very important more than the numbers!

After the success of the ‘Ye Re Ye Re Paisa’ earlier in Jan 2018 the audiences demanded a sequel from the makers! And the wishes of all the audiences who loved the film have come true! While the production team of the film is same, now it has a different creative team. The sequel will be directed by ‘Baghtos Kay Mujra Kar’ fame actor-turned-director Hemant Dhome.

Moreover, the film is written by a new writer this time. Hrishikesh Koli who previously wrote the dialogues for the surprise hit of 2017 ‘Boyz’ is on board. ‘Ye Re Ye Re Paisa 2’ is a joint venture by Amey Vinod Khopkar Entertainment, Purple Bull Entertainment, Trance Fx Studios Pvt. Ltd & Panorama Studios.

The release date of the film too is out, it is 4^th Jan 2019! From the teaser poster of the film, one could make out that the film is set in a foreign backdrop maybe in London! It’s exciting times for Marathi cinema for sure as a ‘franchise’ has been created in a ‘heist’ film genre which is not traditionally common in Marathi cinema.

The film’s ‘Muhurta’ was recently commenced whre the producer of the film Prakash Singhi spoke whole heartedly about himself & the film. He said, “I am originally from Nagpur, & I have a special connection with Marathi from my birth. And hence when I decided to produce a film I wanted it to be a Marathi film.”

Prakash Singhi further said that ‘Texas Films’ will also produce Hindi films & other regional films in the future. This film will release in Feb 2018 & the cast of the film is currently kept under wraps.

‘Baghtos Kay Mujra Kar’ fame actor-director is the writer-director of this film, which makes this his second directorial. Hence the audiences will surely be entertained as Hemant has connected with them before. But who actually is ‘Satarcha Salman’? To know that we have wait a little as the news will soon be revealed.

Bus Stop Marathi Movie Review :

How do I put this? There are certain films that are simply pointless. They are not even irritatingly bad. You just can’t enjoy such films in any possible way. This multi-starrer mishap belongs to that category of films. A few months back we had another ‘disaster’ in the college romance genre ‘F.U.’ while F.U. was equally bad it was also ambitiously ridiculous, so ridiculous that you might end up enjoying the nonsense it keeps hitting you with. In case of ‘Bus Stop’ you are simply bored.

There is factually no conflict to the story! Rather there is no story, just a bunch of overgrown college students fooling around the campus. Maharashtra’s most loved writer/performer Pu La Deshpande once said when older people make movies about the youth they end up making miserable movies. The same is the case with ‘Bus Stop’, the writing has no real understanding of what today’s youth are really about. But forget that the film doesn’t even manage to put together whatever it thinks it knows, even though what it knows is nothing!

It’s such a pity to watch actors like Siddharth Chandekar, Aniket Vishwasrao, Amruta Khanwilkar, Pooja Sawant, Sanjay Mone, Avinash Narkar, Vidyadhar Joshi & Sharad Ponkshe being wasted. Especially Siddharth’s performance, he almost portrays his disinterest of doing this film. Uday Tikekar & Hemant Dhome play characters which they’ve been playing for a long time now, they are a fine example of typecasting in Marathi.

Many a times we feel the makers just stumbled upon the title ‘Bus Stop’ & then to justify it shifted few scenes at a ‘Bus Stop’. But one thing’s for sure the trailer did suggest us that the parents will have a perspective in this film. And they do! Vidyadhar Joshi’s character who plays father to Pooja Sawant is probably the only interesting character. His confusion of whether to give his child utmost freedom or whether to curb it like his friends, could’ve been evolved. But the film almost restlessly makes him a caricaturish filmy father!

Since the film doesn’t work on the most basic stage of having a plot, conflict. The casting mistakes are actually secondary. But in general Marathi cinema needs to understand that we are unlike Bollywood! Bollywood can afford to cast older ‘stars’ in younger roles, because the point is they are ‘stars’. We don’t really have stars! We have actors. And secondly Marathi cinema has been manufacturing teenage films for a while now, in which actual teenagers play teenage characters. Hence the audiences too are not used to watching older actors in younger roles.

We didn’t really notice but technically the film is definitely decent, but then it doesn’t change anything. Among the actors as said above Siddharth looks completely disinterested, the same is the case with Aniket Vishwasrao to some extent. Hemant Dhome’s caricaturish funny guy fails terribly. His relationship with Sharad Ponkshe (his father who owns a Vada Pav shop) could’ve been funnier had it been developed in a better way. Among the girls Amruta Khanwilkar & Pooja Sawant do their bit in whatever scope their parts provide them.

The songs too are forgettable or plain boring just as the film. One of the songs is a clear rip-off of ‘Ratta Maar’ song from Karan Johar’s ‘The Student of the Year’. During the runtime of this film I genuinely wished, why can’t these makers randomly select a foreign college movie & blindfoldedly make a copy of it! But then I feel even that isn’t an easy

Overall:

‘Bus Stop’ supposedly had the ‘youth’ as their target audience. But if you dared to watch this film, I assure you, you’ll feel like a ‘Target’ on which this film is all set to make its ‘Target Practise’.
