Synopsis : Menka Urvashi is the story and picturization of Marathi Culture in Rural Maharashtra over a period between 1955 to 1975. Tukaram Patil, the rich and powerful baron of the village, is obsessed with power and driven by self-interest. Circumstances put him at odds with a poor farmer named Dhanaji, and he plots a devious scheme to bring Dhanaji down. As Patil`s tyranny continues, destiny intervenes in the form of a lavani dancer named Ambika, who takes it upon herself to make sure that justice is served. This movie is the first directorial effort of Machindra Chate, who is the well-known personality in Maharashtra in the Education field.

Avadhoot Gupte says he had been offered acting roles long back when he starred in his own music videos, but he has always been reluctant about it as he thought it wasn’t his department! Even when Viju Mane (director of Monkey Baat) offered him a role he was reluctant but after listening to the story of the film he was excited to play the part!

The songs of the film and the dialogues of the film are written by Sandeep Khare and music is composed by Saleel Kulkarni. The movie ‘Laal Batti’ had its muhurat in the presence of the Cabinet Minister Mr.Eknath Shinde and Thane police commissioner Mr.Paramveer Singh.
