Priya Bapat is one of the more well known names on the Marathi theater, television and films circuit having worked in successful films like ‘Happy Journey’, ‘Mee Shivaji Raje Bhosle Boltoy’, ‘Kaksparsh’, ‘Time Please’ and much awarded plays like ‘Nava Gadi Nava Rajya’, and a travelogue show on Etv MARATHI, etc and now her eagerly awaited film ‘Time Pass 2‘ is up for release and we spoke to the charming actress.
There is a lot of buzz about ‘TIMEPASS-2’.
Yes. The original was a super duper hit and everyone is anticipating about it’s sequel and I am proud to be a part of the film.
What has changed in the sequel?
The lead protagonists played by Prathmesh Parab and Ketaki Mategonkar have grown up are now matured and I play Ketaki’s older version and Priyadarshan Jadhav is cast opposite me in the main lead.
How was it like working on the film?
Priyadarshan is someone I have known for a long time having worked in a very successful play with him which ran for more than a year and so There was a comfort level between us and we had a blast while shooting for the film. Director Ravi Jadhav is also an old friend of mine since my modelling days when Ravi was an ad filmmaker and had shot his first few commercials with me and so I was very comfortable with Ravi and the shoot went off quite nicely.
Recently your performance in ‘Happy Journey’ was very much appreciated? Is there a sequel in the offing?
Not that I know of.
You and hubby Umesh Kamat are rarely seen together in films. Is it deliberate on your part?
Nothing like that. It’s just that we have not got any offers together.
Are you open to television offers?
Yes, Why not? I have just completed a travel show for ETV MARATHI.
What are your forthcoming films?
I have a few good Marathi and Hindi offers but I wouldn’t like to talk about them now.
